I stayed around to order it, but why does it read $19.98 on the site and then when I put it in my shopping cart it suddenly reads $10 more???

Typo. It was always going to be $29.98.

Already orderedsmile

SOLD OUT!!!! Whoa! Who knew??

Unbelievable. It's - like - GONE from everywhere! Completely sold at every online retailer. Some may turn up on e-bay. Here's hoping.

I was able to order one from Chris' Soundtrack Corner. We'll see if it ships razz

Boy, was I gullible! Hopefully I'll be able to cancel the Germany order and avoid the extra $12 cost! razz

Just ordered from SAE. Can't wait to give this a listen.

Kev McGann: Re your: SOLD OUT!!!!

Whoa! Who knew??

Since some FSM readers believed you and frantically tried to buy it elsewhere for significantly more, I hope this has taught you that there are SOME things one shouldn't joke about here. Just a thought.

And to Spymaster, re your: Unbelievable. It's - like - GONE from everywhere! Completely sold at every online retailer. Some may turn up on e-bay. Here's hoping.

The reason it was "GONE from everywhere!" was because it hadn't been released yet, and it wouldn't be visible until a few hours ago, which, unfortunately, seemed to confirm the fears of some that it WAS sold out. People really need to avoid such joke postings when it can result in costly misunderstandings, which was why I criticized Kev above for his misguided joke that backfired.

La-La-Land Records: Re It was a typo briefly on the site

But what a time to have such a typo! I was surprised when I saw it under the "Empire of the Sun" image, since I had predicted yesterday that it seemed obvious to me that it would be $29.98, and then when it hit the shopping cart the real price showed up. I'm sure it was an OMG moment for you.

I see people above are talking of typos.

So here's a riddle:

Question: When is a typo not a typo?

Answer: When a local California buyer orders a single copy of Empire of the Sun from LLL and gets a charge of $37.90.

Looks like a typo. Sounds like a typo. But it's not.

But all's well... the change from FORTY DOLLARS is EXACTLY what my local Peet's coffee shop charges ($2.10) for a medium house coffee. So I'll consider that a bonus.

Basil:

In MY case, since I added a $2 CD along with it, my bill was $41.10 (including tax and shipping). That's why we like Amazon's free shipping for such things. But I don't resent it -- giant Amazon an afford to absorb shipping costs. I love record labels like La-La-Land that provide us with such an important service -- can't imagine not having them, along with Kritzerland and SAE and Intrada and others.

"I can bring everyone back..."

hard to believe someone who loves Williams and the film cant remember this wonderfull (cinematicaly, photographically, musically... emotionally) scene from near the end of the movie.

oh well... here it is:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=19UROAIbtlw

I'm not at all enchanted with this Williams score as many are; it is overblown, obnoxious and overpowering, Williams heavenly choirs are downright laughable, completely pulling one out of the genuine dramatic scene.

I liked the film "EOTS" however Williams contribution to the film was annoying and made the film lesser than it should have been. Just another instance where Williams music is unjustly lauded for a putrid contribution

I tried to listen to the previous Warner version, and could barely get through the CD without a nice sleep, or an unintentional giggle. Really!!

After posting the above track listings, I noticed that La-La-Land had already done so on the OTHER "Empire of the Sun" discussion.

The samples sound very interesting and I'm looking forward to hearing the CDs with my big music system, in stereo and also in simulated surround. I like the barbed wire setting for this display! Sooooooo appropriate!

Seriously? When did a 3000 edition (or 4000 as this turned out to be!) sell out within a couple of *months* of release, let alone BEFORE the official release date? C'mon now.

I completely disagree and feel you're missing the point of the film, however you and Pauline Kael would have got on very well:

One of the most important movie and score experiences in my life.

Thank you, La-la-Land!

4,000 is a lot of CDs. I think we can rest easy. Isn't 'Hook' still available, and if I remember it was a bigger 'grail' here than EOTS.

Spymaster: You seem to be missing the point I was trying to make. First Kev McGann posted that it was sold out, and you immediately replied to his posting as follows:

SOLD OUT!!!! Whoa! Who knew??

Unbelievable. It's - like - GONE from everywhere! Completely sold at every online retailer. Some may turn up on e-bay. Here's hoping.

I was simply trying to explain why it may have SEEMED to you to have been "Completely sold at every online retailer" -- no retailers had it, or so it seemed, because it had yet to be released. Even going to La-La-Land itself one couldn't find it.

Or did I misread your SOLD OUT!!!! Whoa! Who knew??

I don't know who posted this but I am very happy I have their bullshit on block beforehand.

Next up: lotto numbers.

I was taking the piss, mate. As was Kev! It's completely sold out now, though, I gather.
