I’m not interested in this particular score, but that’s a very cool cover. They all have been. I can’t wait to see Mulan’s whenever that gets a release!

I was doing a quick search to see if I could find out more on Dennis McCarthy doing additional uncredited work on "Aladdin" when I stumbled upon this humorous thing: There's a Dr. Dennis McCarthy who worked on an ALADDIN project.

I guess it's too much to ask Disney to do a special release of their greatest soundtrack - BAMBI !!! I agree that "Bambi" is a great one (though, in all honesty, I can't say it's their absolute best. Personally, I'd grant that honor to Paul J. Smith's "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea"). It deeply saddens me that such a work of art as the "Bambi" score has not seen a formal, complete release to the public. Edward Plumb's compositions boast a very unusual sort of beauty that doesn't receive even a pinch of the respect and notability that it deserves. I believe the reason why so much music was missing on the official release was because many of the original masters were lost, much like "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs". Some of the masters are still around, however, most of the music likely only exists today in the form of a 'music and effects' track (meaning that the only existing audio remnants of the score also contain sound effects), hence why it was omitted from the official soundtrack release. That's also the reason why the aforementioned "Snow White" score was missing several notable cues in all of its releases. I'm pretty sure the only score from Disney's earlier years that still exists as it was recorded back in the day is "Pinocchio", whose master tapes were fortunately preserved and well-kept over the years. Most of the studio's other scores from around that period were likely lost to time.

Just picked up tonight the Robin Hood one, can't wait to listen to it. I don't remember if I've seen the film, is it good?

I guess it's too much to ask Disney to do a special release of their greatest soundtrack - BAMBI !!! As they did not bother to expand their Legacy editions of the Walt-era scores that had known previous editions in the 90s (Pinocchio, Cinderella, Lady and the Tramp, Sleeping Beauty and Mary Poppins), there's absolutely no reason to ask for a Legacy release of Bambi (indeed, one of the greatest film scores of all time), as it would be the same as the existing cd. Let them concentrate on never released scores (like The Sword in the Stone) or expanded editions of the much clamored Menken scores. When they did a restoration of Bambi some years ago, they restored the music elements as well and put it in 5:1 "stereo" format. Obviously not true stereo, but a nice listen. So at least release that soundtrack version, yes?
