My mistake- one of the threads was deleted, but not this one - so here goes-

"ISLANDS" has arrived!

It sure sounds great! What a terrific package and notes. FSM starts the New Year hitting one out of the ball park! Thanks again.

I am greatly looking forward to my copy and comparing to the re-recording, which I have owned for years.

I'll mix some drinks.

Wow. This score is so delicate, beautiful...haunting...at times, exhilirating. Some parts remind me of The Omen (sans chorus). I'm in love.

Shhh Josh...I won't tell Holly that you're a two-timer!

It's cool, Mark. Holly's known about Jerry's music and I for many years now, and she not only accepts our relationship, but embraces it. I guess you could call it a ménage à trois of sorts.

Oh, okay. It's one of those open marriage things. I get it.

I think THIS calls for The Cone of Silence.

This is so good I am on my third spin. It always was and will continue to be one of his best scores- sigh.

I rented the film through Netflix tonight, and not only was the movie terrific (one of George C. Scott's best performances), but Goldsmith's score is glorious. The Intrada re-recording doesn't even come close to the shimmering, impressionistic beauty of the film tracks. I'm even more excited to order this now (although I have to wait a while...I just dropped about $120 in an order with Intrada, so I want to let things simmer down for a bit frown).

I'm going to have to wait a while before I get mine. I ordered it from moviemusic.com along with Hellfighters and The Blue Max to get the $1 shipping (I need to save every dollar). Plus, moviemusic saved my ass when I somehow missed out on Bruce Broughton's Last Rites and they were the only one to still have it after everyone else was sold out (it was my first order with them). I owe this order to them. I'm learning patience, but still can't wait to get it!

You certainly could not have ordered it from a better, quicker outfit. The service I have received from Moviemusic has been exemplary. Oh, and yes, I can appreciate your penny pinching.

Never ordered anything from them, perhaps I will give them a try. I usually order from SAE.

They are good in a pinch- like a quick sellout-

As a rule, I prefer to give my orders to to the releasing label.

I've been listening to this cd a lot the last week and for me the highlight track is "Is Ten Too Old?", with the great piano/string spicato buildup accompanied by bongo/drum percussion taking off at 2:09.

The music accompanies the scene where one of Scott's sons is swimming and he's about to be attacked by a hammershark. Scott struggles to shoot it before it reaches him, very intense.

This score to me is the natural answer to the question "If you could only pick one album to take with you to an abandoned island?" This is it by a long stretch.

Not really, when I love something I play it to death. I'm on my 2nd listen of the "Rozsa Box". I listen to music all the time. auto, office, home.

Hi RM! I listen to my Conti music over and over again. You're lucky you can listen to your music at the office too, I can't at my job. Although the song FOR YOUR EYES ONLY does play quite a bit on the radio there. BTW, what's your most played cd? Mine is THE RIGHT STUFF/NORTH AND SOUTH. I know we have different tastes in music, but we both love our music just as much. Take care buddy, until our next conversation.smile
