I thought the film was poor. It came across as a weakly motivated "let's do that aliens-smashing-up-cities story again", with nothing new or interesting. As for the score, well I admire that Tyler managed to get some thematic stuff in there. He's a cool composer. That said, I think composers' choices are a be a bit limited on movies like this these days. It's like, "Give me non-stop bash-bash-bash orchestra and great grand choir of the apocalypse".
