Wow, that YouTube clip sounds truly terrible.

Moving on..... smile

Is the two-CD set needed because the score needs that much room, or is it a two-CD set because you've added the original LP (or CD release)?

It's complicated. smile Two CDs were needed because of the amount of music on the CDs - there is one thing on the two CD set that has been released before - all else is world premiere stuff.

3 scores on 2 cds? Paramount? 50s? 60s?

Good guesses all. It's definitely on two CDs smile It's not three scores, however. It's not Paramount.

I think you know what we're dealing with here. It's not the first time someone has registered just to come and do this in one of our threads and I'm guessing it won't be the last.

I am simply looking forward to the final answer - no guesses here. If it is any of the scores already put forth as suggestions I will be happy. I LOVE the 50s and 60s "stuff". My only conjecture will be whether I'll have enough in the bank to order all these great new releases....smile

Not 50s or 60s? 70s?

Again with this story of the registration? eek Dear Sir, what kind of woodworm does prey on your mind? Am I guilty just because I registered myself today? Am I guilty because I like that YouTube audio clip?
By the way, I listened and re-listened to both versions and, yes, there are defects and more hiss on it, but I prefer the “fake stereo” one because the sound is more open and soft.

Am I guilty because I say that it would have been nice to have that additional source, too, on the CD?

Strange people in this place.

Yes, strange indeed. We are interested in preserving film scores as they were recorded, not in some fake, processed sound. You can add fake stereo crap to any mono source and it will sound like fake stereo crap and give the illusion of what you're calling "open" but it ain't real and it ain't what's on the tapes. Again, you haven't heard our CD so you can't really judge anything, but if you prefer a lo-fi You Tube clip then I highly recommend you save that to your computer and enjoy it to your heart's content. It doesn't interest me in the least and that sort of thing never will. I think you will find a similar attitude with most labels. Of course, if you are actually interested in A Place in the Sun as beautifully saved by Chris Malone, well, I was going to say you know where you can find it, but then you can't because it has sold out.

Maybe Fox?

Maybe 40s or 70s? (not 50s and 60s?)

One score expanded to 2 cds?

I may be way off base but I will ask it anyway. Could this be something like a compilation of short scores from one composer or one studio like 20CF ?

Did Bruce actually state it WASN'T '50s or '60s???

I would agree it's probably Fox, but what?

I notice that Bruce didn't answer my question about the composer's last name, either.
Curious. Maybe that would give it away too soon.

Well maybe this guy has the right idea. We have been guessing, as asked, and of the half dozen guesses Haineshisway answers only the troll.
I think I'll re-register say something crappy about a release and THEN give a legitimate guess and get some response. wink

Bruce isn't answering ALL the questions! We are already confused! smile

Give him time.

You know how feisty Bruce can be. He just needs to cool down.

N.P. The Last Tycoon.

Bruce, if you ignore this joker then maybe he will fade away.

Yes, please ignore him Bruce and maybe he will go play with the telephone next. The caller who keeps ringing a number and says nothing when the person answers.

"Spirit of St Louis" was complete on the Varese release several years ago, an all time favorite.

I would love to see and expanded AlexNorth The Rainmaker, as the old RCA album was very short.

I second that emotion. Great score but too short and poor sound on the RCA Spain release...

Long out of print and very pricey on the aftermarket. Time for a better-sounding re-release of the complete deal.

An Overture or Intermission maybe?
