Also, not every CD has to have the main theme; it's a waste of space in place of new music

The title theme is, what, 30 or 35 seconds?

the teaser for an ep that i believe is "Three-of-A-Kind"
the show starts with Johhn Byers of TLG recalling a dream..."President Kennedy was still alive...and my country is at peace"" and depicts idyllic scenes with his family..."and then I wake up"
very moving scene.

he videos with samples!

@Mr. Marshall: Will check out Fearful Symmetry. Weren't there elements taken from "Shapes"? A two-note horn motif that I've dubbed the "Nature motif" that Snow seems to have recycled in several episodes: Our Town, Nisei, Syzygy, Kaddish, Kaddish, and in Millennium...

don't know.
there is a jungle motif, if that is what you are referring to.
the death of Sofie always gets me and the last shot of the Church billboard..."all else is vanity".
good stuff

I am glad they included a good sampling of ONE BREATH but....
how could they leave out the teaser "That Day in the Forest" with that beautfiul 10 note hymnal?@!!
guess I will have to get volume 2 (which will hopefully be a 2cd set)

And good riddance. If you can't appreciate the significance of having 4 more CDs of unreleased Mark Snow music, you're in the wrong thread.

Yeah, but every bit is needed for more music. There are lots of great 1 minute pieces. And La La Land feels impelled to include not just the main theme but various versions of end credit music, including the extended theme that I'm pretty sure is on the first score album from 1996.

Please don't give up, Mr. Marshall. I know how painful it is to not yet have the music for which you've dreamed of having for so long. Still, I'm sure there's some music on here you'll enjoy, as there is tons of for me; the more releases we have, the more likely that the music that hasn't yet been released will be. One of the best ways of making sure how great music is from memory to go through the DVD sets, if you have them. Sometimes, I find that, even if the scene is moving, the music might not be. Stick in there, fellow fan!

Truth be told we purposefully did not put those tracks on because of his requests.

Is there still a webpage that kept track of all the requested cues? Else I need to check my requests and see what is still possible for next volumes smile

I am super excited for Volume 2. Soft Light! And the addition of "Die Hand Die Verletzt" is great...an episode so spooky I still have not been able to watch it again. Fingers crossed for Volume 3! The wonderfully minimalist repeating flute motif from "Synchrony" plus the charming folksy score to "Rain King" and the almost Herrmann-esque "En Ami" are at the top of my list. I almost wish Fox would have isolated scores on the upcoming Blu-Ray...but then that'd take away all the fun of anticipating these releases!

X Files and La La Land is the gift that keeps on giving. For the X Files alone, La La Land is at the top of my list of favorite labels. Keep up the good work!

I'm very excited about this release! Over a decade later, Mark Snow's music still captures my imagination. I don’t care for the light hearted or comedy music. Prefer the mysterious piano, dramatic or action themes. I'm hoping this release will be more like that. Still no music from "Max" Season 4, Ep 18. See here:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Max_(The_X-Files)

I desperately want that mid-flight alien abduction music! But I'll keep it positive and say, "maybe on volume 3!". smile Gratitude to La-La Land Records for continuing to release this great music.

Some of you have mentioned episodes that almost made the cut, like 'Rain King', 'Synchrony', 'Max', 'Detour', 'Duane Barry' and 'Abduction'.

The best advice I have for you is to support this release so we can do more.

We've been averaging around 33 episodes per volume so far, which means there are still plenty of episodes we haven't gotten to yet and more than enough material to keep them coming.

Thanks for all your hard work on this set. You will definitely have my money on Tuesday. If we're talking future releases, could you please consider releasing music from 'Never Again' and 'Invocation'?

In particular, I'm referring to this beautiful adaptation of All the Pretty Little Horses from Invocation: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DhqCkvgrSxY

Thanks!

Chris.

Agreed, love that teaser tune! Rewatched that ep a few months back. Turgid, forgettable ep that relies entirely on Snow's music to give it any substance.

There's still:
http://www.eatthecorn.com/dossiers/mmc.htm
which I will update once vol.2 is out, and with some feedback material I've received (some from members of this board, thank you!).

Words are too few to thank LLL for this release, so $49.98 will have to do! Especially since there's a lot of mythology here, some of my very favourites!

Some of the episodes not yet covered that I feel strongly about:
- Deep Throat
- Ice
- Darkness Falls
- Duane Barry / Ascension
- Apocrypha
- Never Again
- Patient X

Cool! Yup, that has most of it. Can't wait until tomorrow to order vol 2 and can't wait for it to get here!

Only 24 hours left until release wink.. counting the minutes right now razz

Orodromeus, thanks for your great work. I'm checking back to your website from time to time, cause it is great besides the "Massive Music Compilation".

I, for myself, got many great episodes ready for release on volume 3:

Deep Throat (i second that one)
Ghost in the Machine
Duane Barry / Ascension
3
Dod Kalm
Apocrypha
Teso dos Bichos
Humbug
Bad Blood
Drive
The Rain King
...

There are lots of pieces in this set that I wanted badly, so I'm thrilled to get it. I can't emphasize enough how happy I am to get this. Even music I wouldn't have thought I'd want I'm sure I'll enjoy and I thoroughly appreciate how collaborative you folks at La La Land are trying to be. However, I hope for many more sets for a couple of reasons -- and I'll have more feedback when I receive and digest the set:

Some music is accidentally being reused. Except for a percussive "previously on" segment, "Deep Six" (from the episode "DeadAlive") is note for note exactly the same as "Starspeak" on Volume 1; it's not a variation, but exactly the same in timing and instrumentation. Yet the 1 minute shorter beautiful music from that very episode of Scully asking Doggett about Mulder's condition isn't here.

I hope episodes from which music has been released so far haven't been written off because there's TONS of amazing music from these yet to be released. For example, "Talitha Cumi"'s 2 least interesting pieces (based on the titles and timing I know are the teaser and when Mulder talks to X in his childhood summer home backyard) were selected, rather than gorgeous pieces of incredible beauty that are hardly any longer: Mulder finding the stiletto and CSM interrogating Jeremiah Smith. I've seen other fans on these boards say they wanted these pieces. So, please don't shut the door on these episodes. It's a chance to make more money off us, after all.

Also, if a piece is used more than once in a 2-parter mythology, it usually means it's the main theme Mark Snow has worked hardest on and is worthiest of inclusion. For example, the incredible melody from the last few minutes of "Redux" that isn't on this set is used repeatedly in that episode, but also a few times in "Redux II". Similarly, "Endgame" (6:39-14:14) that's a percussive variation on the music in "Colony" (25:18-31:50).

You folks release so much music for so many albums, so it's hard to have the same obsession as we fans of "The X-Files" do. If there's help we fans can provide in the selection, I'll do it for free.

Awww, man! I was hoping that the Talitha Cumi stiletto piece would be on this release. Guess I should have been vocal about that one. Bummer.
