I received my copy of Carrie from Amazon Japan today (I live in Australia) and I can confirm it is a pressed disc NOT a CD-R. Very happy with it.

Hello, would you possibly please provide the link to the Amazon Japan page that lists this pressed CD? I cannot find it. Also, how do you order it if you can't read/speak Japanese?

Also, how long did shipping take from when you ordered it to when it arrived to you in Australia?

Thank you very much in advance! smile

Here is the link for the CD from Amazon Japan - http://www.amazon.co.jp/dp/B00GCWDJ3U

It is an import of the same EU release, but I chose to buy it from Japan as it was in stock compared to Amazon Germany which has been delayed.

I chose the quickest delivery, which took about four days after receiving the initial shipping confirmation from Amazon to reach me in Oz.

I dont read Japanese either, but I just copied and pasted sections of the site that were in Japanese into an online translator and just winged it.

There is some websites that might have a run down of how to order etc.

Hope this info helps.

Thank you very much! smile By the way, about how much did you pay for it? I see a Japanese price. Do you have any idea what that translates to in American denomination? If not, no problem, I'll try to plug that into an online translator as well.

1,613 Yen is approximately 16 USD.
Once you place the order you can select to have it charged in USD.

Here's a new wrinkle: Amazon in the US is now offering a physical DVD. It's listed as an import but also has the DVD-R disclaimer on it (manufactured on demand). (So which is it? Why would a DVD-R be an import?)

So I'm in a quandry...order from Amazon at the cheapest price and shipping or order from Japan for instant gratification and a guaranteed pressed disc (pricey shipping to US) or wait for Amazon.ca or Amazon.de to have it stock?

I'm leaning toward waiting a while because there is so much demand for my soundtrack cash this month.

WTF man, that's a lame release idea ... (sigh)

Well, I can finally confirm that the pressed CD is available in Europe...

I received my copy from Amazon in the US today. Although listed as an import (for only $11.98), it had a CDR disclaimer on it.
I rolled the dice and ordered and as far as I can tell it is the pressed European version. Looks just like Lokutus' pic above. It states "Made in the EU" on the case and the disc does not have that slight tint that CDRs have. It looks just like a silvery pressed CD. I think the disclaimer on Amazon may be a mistake.

Glad to finally get a physical copy of this nice score.

Finally caught this movie...it's fine....nothing remarkable, but a decent update...some nice additions, some good updating of the classic stuff, and finally, the hail of stones wink ... score didn't do that much for me but it was functional...yep, altogether - fine. BUT - I certainly 100% agree with this sentence:

Moretz is already too pretty and attractive to start with, so I never bought into it quite as much (she's arguably much better looking than the rest of the cast from the outset!!)

I've just got round to sorting out a CD cover to import my CD into iTunes, and was wondering if anyone who has seen the movie can explain what all the marks are on the image (examples below).

It's on my CD cover, also on covers I find on the internet, and these vinyl and movie poster images.

There's several lines of what looks like Spiderman webbing hanging from her right hand, and also wrapping horizontally around her legs. Originally I thought it was a badly scanned image, but since checking several images, I'm not sure.

The vinyl image with the sticker looked like it could be the cellophane wrapping, but it's on my CD cover when I've scanned it myself.

Is this representative of something in the movie, or just a bad image that I should try and "fix" in Photoshop?

Utterly unremarkable and uninvolved music. Shame, as Beltrami's MIMIC and DON'T BE AFRAID OF THE DARK shows he can do so much more with these kinds of projects. The movie was dumb-ass junk anyway though, so...

I heard a few cues from this and it's certainly a vastly different score to my ears than the one getting passionate, profuse praise elsewhere in this thread (a comparison to "House on Sorority Row?" Huh?). In addition to striking me as extremely generic and predictable, I heard nothing in the way of melodic horror scoring (1980s-style or otherwise). Maybe it helps to be a Beltrami fan, of which I've never been.

Curious if John Powell wrote and/or recorded anything for this before he left the project. The film underwent re-shoots (http://www.fangoria.com/new/exclusive-chloe-grace-moretz-talks-carrie-reshoots/) which leads me to believe that Powell may have done a score.

I never did see the film - I would much rather watch the De Palma version again, which has a spectacular score.
