Kevin Feige On "Thor: The Dark World" and firing Carter Burwell:
IndieWire: Though most rumors of disagreements between yourself and Alan Taylor have been quashed, he's admitted that you differed on the choice of composer, and his pick of Carter Burwell was eventually replaced by Brian Tyler. What was the source of the disagreement?
Kevin Feige: To be honest, we're huge fans of Carter Burwell, "Miller's Crossing" is amazing, I even go to a deep cut like "Conspiracy Theory," which is an amazing score, [and] all of the stuff with the Coen Brothers. It just didn't seem like the right fit, and we had to make a call early on. If post-production had been a year-and-a-half, we might have had time for trial and error, it might have worked. But it just didn't seem like the right fit, and we'd just had a spectacular experience with Brian Tyler on "Iron Man 3," and he enthusiastically stepped into this, and delivered what I think is the best score we've had in a Marvel movie.
I heard a few tracks from this and I said to myself, "Hmmm, not bad." So I listened to the rest of it and was like, "All right, enough already, enough!" This would probably make a fine 30-35 minute album, but as a 77-minute album, it's just way too much.
There's a lot of repetition with seemingly little or no variation. A lot of the reprises of Thor's theme and the later part of 'Sword and Council' just seem the exact same.

Sadly the same issue with the first Thor score, and just about any other score this last decade.
Wicked. What a lucky dude. He's getting all the big gigs lately. Really looking forward to hear where he goes with this. Iron Man 3 was one of my favorite scores of the year. Gonna hold off listening to the clips before I see the film.
