I use iTunes and find it a good player for my use, however when stuff happens they're the lousiest to respond to problems.

Twice now have I contacted them with a specific query, but only received standardized replies in response that is of absolutely NO value or relevance to my problem. This has happened to me before too. It annoys me and I need to vent!

I'm also posting this here because I'm hoping some of YOU can help me!

My problem:

I downloaded a single music file from their store, accidentally put it in the wrong album, but when I tried to delete it (but keep the file), I ended up with a library file that cannot be deleted and cannot be edited (all the edit areas are greyed out)! It ruins my album not only because I can't get it out, but because its cover is applied to the whole of the album.

There's a 'cloud' icon next to the file, but when I click it, it says that the 'object is not available'. It has said so for many days now.

HELP ME!! PLEASE!

No, the music file (as displayed in iTunes) doesn't play.

However, the file plays fine if I access it through Windows Explorer.

Well if you can access the file through explorer you should be able to edit the tag info and album art with a different program. Or did I miss something. I recall long ago I had an mp3 that wouldnt play becuase it had a corrupt tag or artwork.

I think it has something to do with iTunes' new 'iCloud' system (whatever that is). Once you try to delete a file you've downloaded from their store, it won't go away from the library and you can't edit it. It's just....there -- as a non-working file. And in my case, it screws up an entire album.

I could of course try a different program, if anyone has any recommendations, but I doubt that will help in this particular case.

Can you delete the entire album and re-download it from iTunes or import if from a CD? Which ever you did. In other words start fresh. From there trouble shoot the single file issue.

There is nothing you can do right now. The iCloud service attached to iTunes purchases is messing up iTunes and is full of bugs like that. Any changes you try to make are reset almost instantly.
I can't stand it. They've also removed the option of dual monitor playlist display.

I see what your saying. I can't access iTunes from Apple TV. As a matter of fact I can't access Netflix through my Apple TV.

Unfortunately, none of those options, no. I tried to delete the whole album, but then that single track that I accidentally put in there is left standing. And when I re-upload my album, it goes back to its screwed-up state.

One of the problems is that the erroneous file has been edited with the name of the album, so unless I import the CD again (with a new name), it won't work. And even then, the non-working file would sit there, right next to it.

Drives me nuts.

I managed to re-download the file from the friggin' 'cloud' thingie.

But it annoys that one is not able to delete a file from the library display once you've downloaded it from the store. It's still visible in the display, "in case you want to re-download it again from the Cloud thing".

Sometimes, you just want to have a track on your harddrive, but not necessarily in the library display.

If you are downloading your purchases to Apple's cloud, then you are NOT downloading it to your hard drive. The "cloud" is nothing more than a server bank that Apple stores all your data for you.

The advantage to this system is that you can access your info/music any time from any of your devices no matter where you are.

The disadvantage is that you no longer have copies of your purchases on your own computer.

I would hope that this is a setting that could be changed so that you can download your stuff to your computer instead of their servers. There might be an option that lets you download a copy to both places.

It is unlikely you would have so much trouble if you put files on your computer instead of in the cloud......

I still can't access Netflix from my Apple TV. I can access Netflix from my regular television. So something is still wrong with Apple's servers.

Regarding buggy issues with iTunes I have a duplicate television episode that won't delete. It won't play the episode either. Frustrating I can't clear it out.

You see Thor, I never have this problem with my CDs.

Top five most annoying tech support comments and questions I've been faced with.

(5) Did you get the latest software update? (More and more software updates creates the problem!)
(4) Did you reboot the system? (Like duh!)
(3) Did you reset to factory settings? (After spending an hour setting up my personal settings?!)
(2) Did you replace the device for another if under warranty? (So I got a lemon?)

And the number one comment...

(1) It's not us it's them. (Your no use to me and your service sucks)

Well, I didn't download to any 'cloud' (as I have no interest in any iTunes clouds....I don't even have an iPhone!); it was just a regular download from their store. However, I was not informed of, or given any option of 'harddrive' vs. 'cloud'. So they're basically forcing me to be involved in all that stupid 'cloud' business, which I hate.

I actually like iTunes as a media player (although it can be a bit sluggish at times), but stuff like that annoys me.

The fluffy, sweet sounding cloud services are a Not Ready for Prime Time technology. Despite this every company that has one is doing their best to hustle people to keep their data in the cloud. I don't need no stinkn' cloud even if they did work, which they mostly do not! And shame on these companies for trying to force us to be their beta testers for them.
