One of the few film adaptations that didn’t add a female character for romance. Other film versions of classic sci-fi that added them include: JOURNEY TO THE CENTER OF THE EARTH, FROM THE EARTH TO THE MOON, VALLEY OF THE DRAGONS (based on the Verne novel “ Off on a Comet”), FIRST MEN IN THE MOON, and MASTER OF THE WORLD.

Curiously, Weena, the love interest in THE TIME MACHINE, is actually in the book, though she disappears in a forest fire, not depicted in the movie.
