ALIEN---Ridley Scott commented on the future of the franchise, “There’s no reason why ALIEN should now not be on the same level for fans as STAR TREK and STAR WARS. So I think the next step as to where we go is, do we sustain the ALIEN (series) with the evolution of the beast or do we reinvent something else? I think you need to have an evolution on this famous beast because he’s the best monster ever, really.”
Scott also commented on why BLADE RUNNER 2049 was not a big success, “It’s slow. It’s slow. Long. Too long. I would have taken out half an hour."
He said he has never been approached to direct a STAR WARS movie because he is, "too dangerous".
Also, Neill Blomkamp confirmed his ALIEN 5 sequel, which was canceled to make way for COVENANT, is dead, "Yes. I have moved on. What I meant was that I wish there was a way for fans to see some of what we had designed. It was an amazing chance to work in the world Ridley and James Cameron created. And collaborate with Sigourney."
Blomkamp also released more concept art for ALIEN 5.

SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY---Christian Bale confirmed he was a candidate for the role of Han Solo's mentor that went to Woody Harrelson, “Yes, [it was] very tempting. I not only love the films going back to my childhood but also have a very long relationship with Kathleen Kennedy and Frank Marshall because they did EMPIRE OF THE SUN many years back. There was discussion, [and] I hope there will be future discussions.”

BRIGHT---the Netflix sequel is underway with Will Smith and Joel Edgerton returning.

THE WIDOW---Kate Beckinsale stars in this Amazon/ITV tv series as a widow who searches for the truth in the Congo after seeing her "late" husband on the tv news.

THE CIRCUS---Showtime renewed the series for Season 3.

TRIVIA---before receiving an Emmy nomination for AMC's BROKEN TRAIL, Greta Scacchi's first major introduction to US audiences was playing the sleazy district attorney in PRESUMED INNOCENT starring Harrison Ford.

Ridley is right about that runtime on BR2049, it should have been cut 30

Blade Runner is one of my all-time favorite movies. I couldn't have cared less for a sequel, but I would have checked it out for shits and giggles had it not been nearly three hours. Nope! That's not a shits and giggles running time in the slightest!

Yeah, I think that the "check it out" audience was reduced to nothing and the box office was hampered because of the excessive running time. And Ridley Scott, producer on 2049, thinks so too. I guess he felt he could not insist strongly on cuts since he was not directing, or perhaps he did insist and was not heeded.

I honestly think - not wish or hope but think - that Ridley Scott is suffering from sundowning lately.

I agree. EVERY TIME he opens his mouth, I think he's lost the plot.

I think he's just being his usual self; he's always had that acerbic wit and honesty. I happen to agree with what he says too.

Sounds like he should run for president. He's got a loyal base of unquestioning devotees living in his fantasy world. Thor could be his campaign manager.

Because it will NEVER have the same mass appeal or audience. Same goes for the idiots at Paramount that say the same thing about Star Trek. All they see are $$$$$$ and think they can translate their own properties into Star Wars business. These people are delusional.

But if they say it enough times, it must be true.

I'd be honoured!
