There is only one movie that I currently feel is criminally unreleased on DVD: SubUrbia.

Richard Linklater (Dazed and Confused, School of Rock, A Scanner Darkly, Slacker) directs; stars Giovanni Ribisi, Steve Zahn, Nicky Katt, Parker Posey; based on a fascinating play by Eric Bogosian (Talk Radio, Sex Drugs & Rock 'n Roll).

I'm not even going to mention the so-called "films" and obscure TV shows that are easily available on DVD while this one languishes in prehistoric VHS format.

What movie do you want to see released? (besides the Dolph Lundgren sci-fi actioner I Come In Peace)

The Glass Key (Alan Ladd version)-This is a crime that's it's not available yet.
Up The Creek
Tuff Turf
If Tomorrow Comes (TV mini-series)
The Pink Jungle
The Wizard Of Speed And Time
The Last Chase
Dudes

It's late so I know there is more I am not remembering right now.

Some of my selections, copied from a similar thread elsewhere . . .

Mr. Boogedy / Bride of Boogedy - Staples of my childhood, and my VHS copy of the first is long gone. Would love to revisit them again on DVD. With the first being only 40-something minutes and the second one 100-something, both could probably easily fit on a single disc even if they did a bare bones release, which would be better than nothing.

Avenging Force - One of my favorite revenge flicks and star Michael Dudikoff's best. There's a Region 2 DVD, but nothing still in the U.S.

Catch Me If You Can - Stephen Sommers' 1989 directing debut, about a teen hot rodder who convinces the class president to gamble on his illegal street races to raise money for their high school that's facing closure. I'm surprised this was never released post-The Mummy to cash-in on his success, like Disney did with The Adventures of Huck Finn and The Jungle Book.

Ghost Town - 1988 Charles Band production about a modern day sheriff trapped in a ghost town haunted by the spirits of an outlaw and his gang, whom he must battle to rescue an abducted girl and free the spirits of the townspeople held in limbo by the gang. The movie is actually just a Workprint that was taken from the director and dumped to VHS for release, so I'd like to see somebody like Anchor Bay pick it up and let the director finish it, if possible, for a DVD release.

The Good Old Boys - Tommy Lee Jones' directorial debut, a terrific 1995 telefilm for TNT about cowboys at the turn of the century.

Jekyll & Hyde - 1990 TV movie starring Michael Caine. I remember enjoying it at the time and would like to see it again.

The Legend of Sleepy Hollow - 1980 TV movie starring Jeff Goldblum as Ichabod Crane. My dad and I were just talking about this version last night. I haven't seen it in so long, but I remember watching it yearly when I was a kid.

The Race for the Double Helix - 1987 TV movie, also starring Goldblum, about the race to find the structure of DNA. I only saw it in my high school Biology class and really liked it.

For TV shows, I'd like to have The Wonder Years (no chance with all the music rights issues, but a guy can dream), Pointman, Time Trax, Season 2 of L.A. Heat, and the remaining episodes of ExoSquad.

What Bob DiMucci said.

Frank Perry's DOC is out on DVD by the way, but I'm still waiting for LAST SUMMER, DIARY OF A MAD HOUSEWIFE, and MAN ON A SWING.

I would like to see six made-for-tv masterpieces released on DVD:

1970 THE BROTHERHOOD OF THE BELL
1970 SOUL SURVIVOR
1971 DUEL -- the original 74 minute telecast that shook the world, not the expanded version Universal released already.
1974 THE LEGEND OF LIZZIE BORDEN
1974 THE NIGHT THAT PANICKED AMERICA
1988 APRIL MORNING

Today, please.

Richard

Here you go:

http://www.amazon.com/Doc-Penelope-Allen/dp/B001U6YIAG/ref=pd_bxgy_d_img_a

Good quality transfer, excellent drama, sorry history.

There is also a paperback of the screenplay with a nice intro by Pete Hamill which you can find dirt cheap on amazon. Just do a search under books.

Thanks. No wonder I passed it by, when the Amazon search lists Penelope Allen and John Bottoms as the stars (cast listed in alphabetical order I guess). Stacy Keach and Faye Dunaway get top billing only for the VHS and Region 2 DVD.

Don't forget Perry's "Ladybug, Ladybug" (1963), "Play It As It Lays" (1972), "Monsignor" (1982), and "Compromising Positions" (1985).

I've said it before and I'll say it again... HILL STREET BLUES.

Just about every show on television for the past thirty years owes a debt to it, yet only seasons one and two are on DVD. Season three is available on iTunes, but seasons four through seven are locked away in a vault somewhere.

Yet we have every season of f**king ALF on DVD. Pathetic.

Two of the best westerns ever made:

William A. Fraker's MONTE WALSH (1970)
Robert Young's THE BALLAD OF GREGORIO CORTEZ (1983)

Also, CATTLE ANNIE AND LITTLE BRITCHES with Diane Lane and Burt Lancaster.

The original Max Headroom movie would be nice. It's way better than the TV version.

In any DVD form...

The Legend of Billie Jean

Billie Jean isn't on DVD??? I loved that movie when I was younger. Outside of a brief appearance on Seinfeld, I haven't heard a peep out of Helen Slater since the 80's. She and Justine Bateman and Lori Singer and Meredith Salenger need to team up in a female 80's reunion film: The Expendabelles.
