OK, we all know Hollyweird is taking the sequel/remake thing farther than it has ever been in the past. But, what are the sequels you want that Hollyweird is not giving you?

1. Master And Commander-This one is just strange to me. It has built-in sequels in book form and was a hit. Where oh where is my follow-up

2. Beetlejuice- 22 years later, and no sequel despite the fact that producers want one, Keaton has said he would return (he also wants to do one), and that it just seems like the right type of film for a follow-up.

3. ANOES 3: Dream Warriors- This may seem like an odd addition seeing as there was A Nightmare On Elm Street 4. However, the concept of the "Dream Warriors" never continued. This always surprised me a bit as it seems like the natural progression of the story. Instead, they were all killed off at the beginning of part 4 and no new ones ever arose. Just a pet peeve of mine.

So, let's hear yours.

Bond!!!!!

a worthy sequel to Casino Royale dammit!

I would have loved for Mel Gibson to have reprised his role as Mad Max maybe ten years ago. I know they're doing a new on now, but it's just not gonna be the same.

THE GODFATHER IV - The "gang war" years of the 1920s and '30s. Didn't Mario Puzo work on a treatment for this idea? It's a shame that DeNiro is probably too old to play Don Vito now.

I wanted a real theatrical release sequel to STARSHIP TROOPERS instead of those El Cheapo direct-to-video releases.

The Rocketeer 2. I'd love to see a Rocketeer sequel, or a remake, if it has to be that way. There are so many things that could've been done, and with a bigger budget, those sequels would have looked gorgeous.

A third Batman movie by Tim Burton. He was asked not to return after the box office 'failure' of Batman Returns. Since I love both Batmovies done by Burton, I would have loved to see a trilogy. However, that would only really work if they shot the original version of Returns' script, where Max Schreck was Harvey Dent, who was only scarred at the end, to become Two-Face in the third movie. That could have been great.

Gremlins 3. The second movie gave a very good idea when Joe Dante is let loose on set, and it was great. A third one, obviously with the aid of puppets, could have gone even further. The problem now is that the main characters might be too old, and that Jerry Goldsmith can't do the music. If Warner's even considering this (I believe they have, and clashed with Dante because he wanted to use puppets), they'll probably do it in CG, unfortunately.

I don't know if Val Kilmer could convincingly pull off the svelte Gay Perry, but a sequel needs to happen, for the love of God.

The fact that the best Hollywood can do in reuniting Robert Downey Jr. and the smokin' fine Michelle Monaghan is fucking DUE DATE makes me throw up in my mouth.

King Conan

Starring: Arnold Schwarzenegger
Directed by: John Milius

That could be very interesting. Conan is an aging King whose kingdom suffers from decadence and corruption. Some fiendish chancelor tries to bring down the king, etc..

Could deal with themes like age & death.

A possible composer could include some of Basil Poledouris' original themes in his very traditional, rock-music-free score.

But it should keep the CGI stuff small. No effects just for the sake of effects.
And it shouldn't feature a "son-of-Conan-who-saves-the-day". Perhaps the king could even loose a son at the beginning of the story ...
That could explain, why he is wearing "the jeweled crown of Aquilonia upon a troubled brow".

COBRA 2-Stallone admitted in an interview that he regrets not doing a follow-up to that film. He could still do one but it wouldn't be as successful as the original. Only Stallone die hards, like myself, would see it.

I think it was New York magazine that once had a word game where readers were asked to submit possible sequel titles. A few of my favorites:

Once Is Not Enough Two

The Other Side of Midnight (or, The Other Side of the Other Side of Midnight)

The King and II

Die Hard 5, Ghostbusters 3, and even though it wouldnt be a sequel...I would love for Robert Zemeckis to return to live action filmmaking. I was watching Contact, Back to the Future, and even Gump recently, and damn if he didnt used to have it!

Another vote for Kiss Kiss, the film is a joy, & it ended sort of set up for a sequel, but probably didn't do enough bussiness.

I'm sure that's more of a dig at Gibson than a suggestion, but I hope it never happends, as Kamen's music (with Clapton/Sanborn) was the heart of those films.
