I don't actually have a problem with Mendes returning, just as long as they hire some decent writers this time around. Fortunately I undertstand Pervis & Wade have finally got the boot so maybe we will get a decent screenplay this time around.

Of course if they could also cast someone in the lead role who could actually act, that would be dandy.... smile

It appears that I'm in the minority of those here at the FSM board who love Skyfall. Oddly enough, y'all here at this site are the ONLY folks I know who don't like the film. I have a large assortment of moviegoing friends, and while they hardly ever agree on anything, there wasn't one who didn't see Skyfall at least twice. That includes myself.

The vote is "Aye!"

Well, Chris, y'know - against years of evidence we ignorantly ignored - we Tried to inaugurate an Appreciation along the lines you assert and you know the systematic inevitably intolerant sabotage by some self-crowned roll eyes 'experts' roll eyes concerning That.

Sew we'll just save those komments for our own upcoming INVITATION ONLY web-site.

Mendes returning is great news. Probably means another Newman Bond score which is excellent.

I have no problem with this - nor any choice in the matter, so I choose to be positive and will look forward to this like every other Bond film rather than moan about it for the next few years.

Go Sam, go Tom, go Daniel!

An observation from my own end.

Most of the people I knew really liked Skyfall. The ones that didn't were pretty much either just disappointed or hated it. I'd say it was 90% for and 10% against with some margin for error.

However, those token few people who didnt like it were friends that had worked in television, writing in comics or books (or both), were storyboard artists or were somehow artistic or had a job being creative.

I'm not sure what it meant but it was something I had noticed.

I was hoping for new director and writers. Put me in the "didn't like" category on Skyfall.

I think SKYFALL is an ace Bond film, so I would feel OK with Mendes returning. But I'm still iffy about the trend of having current hot directors putting their own stamp on the franchise. I think of Bond as producers' films, not as a place for auteurist critics to find their favorite helmer's touches. big grin

Also, something that has been bugging me since last fall. Bérénice Marlohe is a stunningly beautiful young woman. Why does she always have heavily caked raccoon eye makeup in all her publicity photos with the other cast and crew members? Drives me up the wall.

Despite the fact that I just didn't have a good time watching Emo Bond screw everything up from beginning to end of Skyfall, I think the thing that bothers me the most about Mendes is his attitude to the previous Bond films. He was the one who initially tried to talk Craig out of being Bond as he felt they were beneath him. Now he is directing them?

Guess I'll have to start disparaging Batman so I can finally get a chance to direct one.

But truthfully I agree with previous comments that the biggest problem lay with the writing. So with a better script, I guess I would be OK with Mendes returning.

OK, Sam sold me. I will allow him to come back.

As long as it doesn't mean another four-year wait (and we get the GUNBARREL back in its proper place), then I'm all for it...Skyfall was splendid.

Always keeping foremost in foundational mind none of this is actually Official.

As for whatever Mr. Mendes may have yakked about before his involvement sorta makes his continuing connection highly irrelevant, no?

Then again, directors are hardly known for being humble about their Hubris embarrassment ...

I was being a bit impish. Truthfully, I do not hate Skyfall. I reserve that honor for Quantum Of Solace and Live and Let Die. But I do find it a badly written movie that will not stand the test of time.

The film has beautiful cinematography (deserved the award), and the locations are breath taking. Javier is a delight, and it's always a blast seeing Albert Finney in a film. However, the endless logic issues in the story just robbed it of any joy for me. The nonsense with Bond being sniped off the train. Bond standing by and letting another sniper take out a man in another building without finding out who was being shot, or trying to stop him, only to see the shooter killed moments later anyway. Silva constantly being refereed to as some sort of devil on earth, but in the end he is just some guy seeking revenge. Seriously, there have been much darker villains than Silva. Guess his missing teeth make him extra spooky.

In the end, I wish to take no one else's enjoyment away. Couldn't anyway. We all love what we love and that's that. But I am growing tired of this, "how can you hate Skyfall" bull. It reminds me of that gag on Seinfeld where Elaine is ostracized for hating The English Patient. Sorry, but I do not think it is a good movie. It's not he worst to be sure, but not even close to the greatest.

If Sam returns, I'd be cool with it. But could we just have an actual James Bond adventure this time and save the pretentious nonsense for writers who can actually write that way.
