One such movie, MAD MAX BEYOND THUNDERDOME, happens to be one of my all time favorite movies. I just LOVE it!

SCREAMS OF A WINTER'S NIGHT- 79- Is a low budget anthology horror film that played around the country for one week, barely ever was on TV[maybe never] got a small video release, and yet like films of the low budget kind like CARNIVAL OF SOULS-62- Had mood as thick as a fog. A film that just gave you the eerie chills and a great ending. Not many films do this , but this one did. Probably will never get a cult following. It is a shame.

Agreed (that it's very underrated). I never understood the hostility aimed at this one by so many. This is certainly the most intelligent of the three Mad Max films. In fact, I actually found the *other* two to be truly mindless, bombastic and unwatchable...

But then again, I've always had different tastes than most movie-goers.

Speed Racer.

I have never understood the hatred for this one. If you put in the blu ray and just relax and turn up the volume it is really a lot of fun. Silly some of it, but fun.

"Star Trek III: The Search For Spock"

Again; don't get the hostility, or why people make blanket-statements like "Oh, the odd-numbered Treks suck" or whatever. Certainly not true in this case, at least IMO. This film has a lot of heart...

ADDED: Also, a great, under-rated score (again, IMO) by James Horner.

It is quite charming, and I love that space station, enterprise stuff, good old model work, terrific.

It's my favorite of the series and I also hold the minority view that Christopher Lloyd was an outstanding villain. smile Horner's score is effective within the movie itself, but IMO on its own, like most of his work, not so great.

Troy- I never understood the hate for this film, other than ppl wanted to hate Brad Pitt at the time. Was it the Brad cheating on Jennifer thing? LOL. Great direction, fine acting, exciting fight scenes, and a powerful score by Horner.

Speed Racer.

Oh, Lord, yes.

On the topic of underrated adaptations of animated shows, JOSIE AND THE PUSSYCATS deserves a better reputation.

RETURN OF THE JEDI

It was a real crowd pleaser the dozen or so times I saw it in the theater back in 1983. I agree it's the weakest leg of the trilogy but it's still a hell of a good entertainment, Ewoks not withstanding.

RETURN OF THE JEDI

Agreed, Adam B. Loved it back then. Still do. Sure, it drags a bit in the middle, and they went more than a little overboard with the latex, but it's still a "crowd pleaser" as you called it.

You two nerds obviously missed my JEDI prime directive: anybody who dares to praise this film will be permanently banned from this board

LOL!

No, it wasn't that bad.

It wasn't GREAT, but not "one of the worst films of all time", as many claim. It has its strengths.
