What do you guys think of this? I would have liked Mel to play him, but Hardy is a great actor too. I hope he does well, and I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. The MAD MAX movies are in my top ten favorite movies of all time.

I've never liked Tom Hardy - I still can't put his acting as Praetor Shinzon in the past - but with George Miller, I'm interested to see what it all amounts to. Here's hoping the score stands toe to toe with the other three, though I sincerely doubt it.

George Miller is my second favorite director, Spielberg being my first. I think Miller is the best action director, and he writes too!

I think his work on the first two Mad Max films can't be touched. They're incredible and genre-defining stuff. Thunderdome, though I enjoy it more than most, is a mixed affair since he only directed the action sequences.

The reason Miller only directed the action scenes was because his heart wasn't in the other scenes after the tragic death of his producing partner Byron Kennedy. Something interesting happened to me at work awhile back. I was bagging at the grocery store, and somehow I got on the subject of the MAD MAX movies with a customer. The customer was from Australia and went to school with Byron Kennedy!

Isn't that movie supposed to be really good, though? Certainly the first is (albeit not very Mad Max-like, but that's a given, and I don't think anyone need worry about a new MM movie having the tone of a kids'/family film).

Rent "Bronson" - it will erase Shinzon from your mind (forever if necessary)...Hardy has never (yet) been better....awesome actor, great role.

There are some deranged individuals who like it (the same folks who like RETURN TO OZ wink ).
Miller produced BABE and after it became a success he became jealous and decided to do the sequel. He even incorporated a mind-numbingly ridiculous scene that mimics the swinging gladiators from MMTHUNDERDOME

Must to avoid

THE ROAD WARRIOR just might be the greatest action film ever made.
How can they possibly top it?

I think Hardy is a good choice. I'm usually impressed with his acting.

I'll admit I haven't seen Bronson, so I cannot speak to that one performance and perhaps I'm missing out.

But Jesus, the other stuff I've seen him in like Inception and Dark Knight Rises and Warrior have just... not done a damn thing to endear me. If he mugged for the camera any harder, he'd have to get a knife and steal the camera from the Director Of Photography.

Would suggest it's Hardy's best role, by quite some distance...wonderful acting.

I'll come out and suggest that Lehah won't buy it because it is a very theatrical and intense performance which Hardy puts on display in Bronson. Lehah's tastes are... unique.

Also, I think Mel has a cameo in the movie. I wonder if the movie will be rated R or PG-13?

I loved Babe, Pig In The City. Yeah, I said it. wink

If George Miller has any film to apologize for, it's Happy Feet, which I loathed.
