Almight through series 1 of Afterlife (2005), a horror drama starring Lesley Sharp and Andrew Lincoln and created and written by Stephen Volk. Very good stuff. Pretty basic premise: a devoutly close-minded academic psychologist takes an interest in a legit medium, convinced that she's either faking or mentally ill or both. But it's often very creepy, especially for a TV show. Also the melancholy elegiac theme by Edmund Butt is decent.

Now checking out the first season of Rick and Morty (2013-2014). Not normally interested in animated shows, but a Dan Harmon show riffing on Back to the Future (Rick and Morty = Doc and Marty) by way of Doctor Who? Yeah, I'm intrigued.

At the end of December I ploughed through Supernatural Season 10 and loved every delicious minute. One of my all-time favorite shows. I will never grow tired of it. It is just as lovely as ever! Long live the reign of the Winchester dynasty.

Just finished Season 3 -- which is the final season -- of Kevin Bacon's The Following. Awesome show. One of the darkest, sickest shows I've ever seen (think Se7en x 7 on network TV with tons more twists and turns) but there's no denying the thrills and psychological interest that this show provides. Easily some of the best work of Bacon's career, too. Sad to see the show end, and I wish it had gone on longer than 3 seasons.

Michael Ealy, an actor whose work I was not very familiar with previously, made a compelling and horrific psycho in Season 3. Am about to follow his work next as I watch the short-lived J.J. Abrams/J.H. Wyman series Almost Human with Karl Urban.

(edit: just so I'm clear, I'm not going to watch the show Almost Human with Karl Urban as in "we're going to watch it together", I mean I'm going to watch the show as in "it's a show with Karl Urban")

It took five years and a double dip of series three (it was cheaper that way) but I picked up the complete series of the Stephen Fry series KINGDOM (2007-2009), which is why I bumped the thread concerning its music over on the other side.

I like the cast (Fry; Celia Imrie; Hermione Norris; Tony Slattery; Karl Davies), the (fictional) small town charm, English-style eccentricity, and the Norfolk locations. And the music. smile

Rediscovering old anime. Finally saw "Future Boy Conan" in Japanese with Eng subs which I loved for the most part. I originally saw this series on Spanish television some 30 years ago. (and I don't speak Spanish) Starting to watch "Space Battleship Yamato" in Japanese with Eng subs for the first time.

Galavant season two, episodes 1&2. I loved the first season, but this season has been so disappointing I haven't found the enthusiasm to go back to it.

Watched Neil Degrasse Tyson "Inexplicable Universe". First on Netflix last year, and again on Youtube. Great lecture series.

Finished the most recent season of Homeland last week and am about halfway through the supremely goofy Ash Vs Evil Dead.

Am very eager for the return of The Americans in March.

Also I enjoy Expedition Unknown with Josh Gates on the Travel Channel. Not as much of a goofy lark as Gates' excellent Destination Truth, but still a solid hour each week.

I'm currently watching AMC's Breaking Bad at a rate of one to four episodes a week. I don't watch a lot of TV and missed it in its original run, but I'm now in season two and have to say the show is one of the best written I've ever seen. No spoilers, please, as I have really no clue what's coming next. ;-)

Anyone ever hear of LAWMAN?
Not the Burt Lancaster film w/Jerry Fielding score but a 50's television show.

Timeless Media, bless their hearts, has released this half-hour show on dvd.

I am sure Riotengine already owns the complete series

I tried Almost Human from J.J. Abrams and J.H. Wyman starring Karl Urban and Michael Ealy. I didn't care for it. It was slick and well-made, funny at times with good mysteries but it was pretty standard and by-the-numbers despite being sci-fi and offering a few new spins on buddy-cop standards. It was kind of case-of-the-week with very little world-building or season-arc, and that's not my kind of show (same problem I had with Blue Bloods). There are too many other shows I want to see and not enough time in life so I abandoned Almost Human.

Just picked up where I last left off with Party of Five with Season 4. Great 90's drama with Matthew Fox and Neve Campbell and Scott Wolf. I miss 90's TV -- the glory days of TV as far as I'm concerned.

After Party of Five the plan is to begin The Walking Dead.

Breaking Bad
Just wrapped up the third season last night. I can't wait to see what's next.

Deep Space Nine
Working my way through the fourth season. I missed so many episodes in its original run that I might as well not have seen it.

I just watched Modern Family season 1, which I enjoyed. I'm now watching Ken Burns' The Civil War, which is excellent and enthralling.

Watching the Megaset for SPACE: 1999...

Amazing how many impressive guest stars were featured on this show...

I thought I'd give the Megaset a chance as well. And yes, there are quite a few familiar faces that pop up, many of them future "Star Wars" actors. I'm only 15 episodes in, and already the following have appeared:

Peter Cushing (Grand Moff Tarkin)
Christopher Lee (Count Dooku)
Julian Glover (General Veers)
Michael Culver (Captain Needa)
Brian Blessed (Boss Nass)

The show itself is strange, to say the least. I've always liked Martin Landau though....

Hot on the heals of Daredevil I'm watching Jessica Jones, which I'm finding a little dull by comparison, apart from nasty David Tennant.

Things are brightened up by my finally catching up with three DCs: Arrow, The Flash and Supergirl. I'm finding the latter two more fun, so I'll be through them before I even get to the end of Arrow's first season. I know I should probably do Arrow first considering the GA's in The Flash, but I don't mind. I love the fact they are using the 90s Flash lead in an important role. As for Supergirl, things have moved on well in affordable tv sfx though some moments are still a tiny bit cheesy. And she looks great in the black tights..

The wife's not impressed ("kid's tv"!) but they're my reward for sitting through Call the Midwife, Coronation Street and Eastenders!

Is this "Arrow" character a renamed version of DC's grouchy, mouthy, and otherwise atitudinous "Green Arrow" who played in the DC Universe for decades? If it is, why did they drop the "Green"?

Am very eager for the return of The Americans in March.

I love that show and am also really looking forward to its return. It’s one of the most brilliantly crafted "slow burn" series in quite some time.

As for now, I haven’t been watching much of anything on TV. I’m waiting for Veep and the aforementioned The Americans to return. I am tuned into Portlandia, an endearing comedy on the Portland culture.

We're in season 3. It is indeed a very impressive TV show so far. Filled with believable characters, it doesn't shy away from its gritty subject matter, yet it has a humane undertone and manages to be even uplifting at times. No small feat.
