Hey American Nightmare, that Bo Hansson album sounds kinda interesting - almost like early Pink Floyd.

Hey American Nightmare, that Bo Hansson album sounds kinda interesting - almost like early Pink Floyd.

Coincidentally, last night while we were listening to it, Holly (my wife) said, "This reminds me of Pink Floyd." (she's a big PF fan, too) smile

I just happened to stumble upon that CD several years ago while searching for Rosenman's LOTR soundtrack on the web, and the samples grabbed me, so I bought it. It has an "earthy" sound that sets it apart from most other prog albums that I've heard, and I really dig the instrumentation (organ, guitar, moog, bass, drums, congas, sax, and flute). Also, I like the fact that there are no vocals on the album, so it's easier to focus on the music and get lost in the fantasy realm that it evokes.

Speaking of great prog albums, are you familiar with the band CAMEL? Their album Moonmadness is another one of my faves from the genre (and also very "Floydian" at times). Check out the samples at Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Moonmadness-Camel/dp/B000005S08

Yeah, I'm familiar with the band, but I haven't heard a lot of them. It's been on my "check out" list for, what, 16-17 years now? embarrassment

MORPHINE - Cure For Pain (1993)

One of my favorite albums of all time...period. I was lucky enough to catch these guys live in '95 at a local bar. Tragically, the singer/bass player, Mark Sandman, died of a heart attack on stage while playing a show several years later. Three-piece band: 2-string fretless bass/vocals, drums, and sax (the sax player often plays 2 saxes at the same time, one in each hand, playing two different melodies simultaneously). No one can touch their style.
