Bondus Interupptus Department:

What particularly intriques us about the casting of Olga Kurylenko

as Camille is the description she "challenges Bond and helps him come to terms with the emotional consequences of Vesper’s betrayal."

There's a Sophie Marceau-ish exotic quality about her as well as the suspicion the role also requires an actress who can deliver the emotional goods - and matching combustible chemistry - to Daniel Craig.

Boy (girl, women) is it gonna be a blast to arrive at 007: The Present Titillating Vintage Era ... wink

Hay, we TOLJA She'd Be Back THUNDERBALL-in' Department:

Majestic Martine,

one of the favored few to have actually appeared twice in the series,

recast here

as Paula

By the bountifull bye, HWLR, thou above all others are probably well aware she appeared with your beloved icon in

HooRaq, indeed!

Returning to Marvelous Martine:

'>

MMmmmmmm, Miss Beswick,

Always in All Wunnerful Ways ... wink

I can note with satisfaction that whereas Martine capably fought to a draw in her bout in FRWL, in OMYBC, Raquel bested her in combat. smile

Raquel ironically was signed initially for "Thunderball" but withdrew to do "Fantastic Voyage". And I've noted previously in this thread that if she had done "Thunderball", she never would have done OMYBC (since that grew out of her Fox contract that started with "Fantastic Voyage") and as a consequence would not have become as big an icon as she became (which is one reason why I would have preferred seeing her do a Bond film at the height of her fame in "Diamonds Are Forever")

Your honorable hypothesis is unimpeachable in the extremis, HooRaq.

Unfortunately (or, for her career, most fortunately) her appearance in OBYBC

would've enhanced DAF incredibly.

She's the one who got away (from bestowing her beauty on Bondage) but never should have, dagnabit.

But we'll get back to her once we get around to DAF ... wink

OBYBC? They didn't set the action *that* far back! smile

Magnificent Mea Culpa Department:

Forgive us our trespasses, HooRaq.

That WAS a whopper worth putting the munchkin who typed it outta his bubblegum misery embarrassment

Now we come to Our All-Tyme Favorite Bond Villainess:

Dazzlingly dangerous Luciana Paluzzi, whose Fiona Volpe is the only woman who matched Connery for drop-dead deadliness, galactic grace and equally elegant, grandly imperious, purely poisonous attitude.

One can compose a virtual compendium of Connery’s Coolest Moments but, for us, when he comes upon Fiona in the bath and she asks him to give her something to wear and he nonchalantly hands her her shoes is just about the COOLEST damn definitive demonstration of why Connery has the indisputable, irrepressible and infinite trademark plus permanent patent on that character.

And the lady is most assuredly

not amused.

Which then leads to what still remains the finest-acted, directed and scored (by that other auspicious J.B.) sequence in any of the original Connery opuses, the stinging showdown of insults slung with such marvelous maliciousness by Bond and Fiona, ending with Fiona’s final verbal coup de grace:

“Oh, but I forgot your ego, Mr. Bond. James Bond, who only has to make love to a woman and she immediately starts hearing heavenly choirs singing. She then repents and returns to the side of right and virtue. But not this one. What a blow to your ego it must’ve been, Mr. Bond. You – having a failure.”

Still, failure is a description never to be applied to the simmering, smolderingly unforgettable Ms. Paluzzi. Then, Now

And Always

One additional argument (among many) for the release of "The Girl From UNCLE" on DVD, is that Lucianna appears in the first episode of the series. But this time she goes against Thunderball type, by helping the good spies!

HooRaq for HWLR Department:

You're a regular fount of fabulous info, pally. Fans as we originally were of April Dancer's (what a wunnerful name, up there with Napoleon Solo) original, criminally-cut short adventures, we never made the connection Luciana was in the first ep! Now we've gotta track it down somehow - see what you started? Yep, it's all YER inspiring fault! smile

As for your suggesh, JaSe, this thread's gonna be long enuff once it's concluded (?) with just the Usual Picturesque Suspects - tho others have done just what you advised throughout this exercise in whatever-the-heck-it-is.

Sew, as Dino didn't sey, "Keep all them (Yummy) Bond cards and letters comin', folks".

[ Tho, mind you, we've a particular English maiden in mind that'll more than meet your pantin' request. Stick around and stay tuned. ] wink ...

To add nothing to this thread other than a not terribly good pun, the ideal accompaniment to this picture would be something played by Gilda Butt(a).

Now then, now then. Now, about Then, and Always: Our Bond Standard for Beauty would haveta be breathtaking Claudine Auger as Domino. She epitomizes in the extremis what Bond women oughta be: sophisticated

worldly

definitively desirous

wondrous,

and effortlessly alluring.

And, mind you, her mature stature still stands the test of congratulatory (if ever envious) time ...

LOL. Well, if I could figure out how to upload some screencaps from the MFU DVD set as well as my boot set of GFU DVDs, I'd be glad to start an "Uncle Yum" thread as I think the series had the most impressive roster of female guests of any late 60s show I've seen.

Summon up Desmond from Above and Beyond

to help you! It's a swell idea (aside from the fact we have a sneaky suspicion amounting to an outright certainty you've got one heckuva collection yourself!) We're write jealous ... wink

I might try Photobucket and see if good results come. The Trek Yum thread allowed us to draw from on-line photos and caps that are in abundance but UNCLE hasn't been well-represented and this should only use images of the women as they appeared in the show itself.
