A lot of people disliked and/or hated the 2009 entry of Friday the 13th.

I LOVED the 2009 version, or as I like to call it Friday the 13th Part XIII. I thought the kills were brutal: Trent's death, Chelsea's death, poor Lawrence's ax-to-the-back and stomp-through-the-front, and I still cringe when I watch poor Chewie take a spike to the throat, gurgling blood...yikes. You actually cared about characters in this one too: I was very sad when Jenna got killed, a real shocker moment that said anything could happen. I'm a huge Supernatural fan so I thought Padalecki was solid. The girls were hot (hello Bree!) and Jason was so menacing. No, Jablonsky's score was no Manfredini achievement but it still was brutal, haunting, and effective. The movie also made great use of Crystal Lake, which a lot of later F13 films did not. Finally, I loved the penultimate shot of all of the places where the young kids had partied and subsequently been slaughtered, set to Jablonsky's haunting music...what were once fun, carefree settings were rendered bloody and trashed from the massacre. It was almost as if it were a ghost town, Jason had come to remove the bodies, leaving questions and inducing chills in whatever campers or partiers were to stumble upon the scene of the massacre in future days...

I could have done without the extra doses of humor and would've liked many more ki-ki-ki ma-ma-ma's...I could have done without the abundance of songs in the movie to market a soundtrack CD and I can't stand the actor Jonathan Sadowski. But anyway, since when was any Friday the 13th film without a number of flaws?

Can't wait for Friday! Am going to try a marathon but since I'm working so much it'll probably be spread out over several days.

Haha, cool man, thanks for posting! I've seen a lot worse Friday fan films than this. Honestly, the Manfredini music makes it a pretty decent one. Without it though...big grin

Liked the opening kill! Very creative. Actually, I'm pretty sure Friday the 13th Part V: A New Beginning's working title was Repetition, I'll bet that's where the makers of this one got the idea.

---

Anyone else bought/ordered the Crystal Lake Memories DVD/Blu documentary that is released Friday? I pre-ordered mine from the website that made the documentary, and if you do that you get a bonus disc with more content. As it is, it's 7 hours of documentary -- 2 discs of DVD, 2 discs of Blu (in a combo package) and a 5th disc if you order from the site or from Dark Delicacies during the release party.

Yep. Also got mine from the website. I wanted the extra disc. Figured I might as well go the extra mile.

Cool! Not a bad price really, $30 for a 7-hour doc. I'm so damn excited about it. I haven't received a shipping notice, so doubt I'll be able to watch it on Friday the 13th. frown

I've just begun the marathon though!!!

Spending some time with Annie and Enos at the moment.

"You're goin' to Camp Blood, aintcha? You'll never come back again! It's got a death curse!"

It has begun...

Haha, I know right, but I do what I can! Have to work 1-10pm on Friday and up early at 8:00am on Saturday for that day's shift. I am basically gearing the marathon to wrap around and bookend the 13th...some tonight, some tomorrow night (I get off at 6pm), then pick back up on Saturday night (getting off at 6pm again). Every detail of my shitty work schedule you ever wanted to know but were afraid to ask!

One more night and then...

Do I have what it takes to survive two times the terror during the witching hour on...THURSDAY THE 12TH?

The sun is currently setting on the doomed...all doomed young people at the Counselor Training Center located adjacent scenic Camp Crystal Lake led by Senior Camp Counselor Paul Holt and Assistant Senior Camp Counselor Ginny Field.

No seconds tonight on dessert for Sandra and Jeff!

Lead the way, Muffin.

...and of course Mr. Kessler, if you're out there, you knew to be expecting the following tradition of ours in this neck of the blood-spattered, rain-soaked, scream-filled woods:

Granted, a ton of posts were from me but holy machete where is everyone? frown frown frown I just got home from work. Guess I'll just head to the couch to continue my marathon.

It's lonely being a Friday the 13th nerd!

It would have been. But it has given me a chance to go back and watch all the films in a marathon, so that when I watch the documentary it will all be fresh in me head.

Mitchell family F13 marathon is in full effect. Almost through part 1: "He wasn't a very good swimmer..."

Happy Friday the 13th, Deputy!
