Yeah, I know LIFE ON MARS. However, it seems to be a pretty straightforward cop drama. The paranormal time jump thing is very much in the background. As far as I know, anyway. Yes, it's primarily a cop show, concerned with a culture clash between a modern policeman and the attitudes of cops in the 1970's. But it gets very Twilight Zone-ish, as the main character doesn't know if he's in reality or not - he might be in a coma. Weird things happen that suggest the latter. It's somewhat similar to the American show AWAKE, where a cop goes back and forth between two alternate realities, or is he? That's an excellent show too, if you don't mind the fantasy aspects being more subtle. How about the Canadian sci-fi show LEXX?

I've added two shows to the list -- 12 MONKEYS (which I haven't started yet) and ASCENSION. ASCENSION was a six-part mini-series on SyFy this Christmas, and I had high hopes for it, reading about the premise. Well, rarely have I seen a premise and story with more plot holes! Geez, what the hell were they thinking? Spending so many resources in terms of special effects and costly production values for something that is so sloppily written? HELIX is back on that air again too, this time they've moved the plot to an island. Not quite as appealing as an Arctic research station, IMO, and I dread the LOST-like flashforwards they're doing, but we'll see how it plays out. ASCENSION was made by 'SYFY' so it could have been much, much worse. I saw the first episode of 12 Monkeys and it was pretty decent, some interesting ideas & much better than what I was expecting. 'SYFY' does seem to be trying to make better shows & movies (I read an interview in Entertainment Weekly recently & they are aware of their reputation as a joke of a network).

anyone checked out BLACK MIRROR? ITS NOW ON nETFLIX brm Not yet. Two things that turn me off somewhat -- the satire bit and the 'anthology' bit. I prefer shows with story arcs (otherwise, I'll just watch a film instead). But I'll probably get to it. Start by skipping the first ep and jumping to the last one. That way you will see the best episode and miss the worst brm

After 2 episodes of the new Helix season, we just gave up. It wasn't the change in location as much as the writing just became ridiculous...well...even moreso than the last half of season 1. The first season got pretty loopy but overall was entertaining, so am wondering what the hell happened to the show ? The mysterious island, the flash forwards thing, the absolutely silly cult thing with Brother Whateverhisnameis, all of added up to awkward and cheesy. Such a disappointment after a fun first season.

Poltergeist: The Legacy wasn't half bad, even if it did have a damned cheek for associating itself with that movie.... And featured Robey, the great one-name actress I had never seen before and have not seen since.
