And tonight is our annual cider drinking party, a little tradition imported from Asturias (where the in-laws are from). Hundreds of people pouring cider in extraordinary ways (like from great heights) into big tumblers held at the correct angle (49º) so that it creates just the right amount of fizz and splash on the footwear. All that, food and Benny Hill music in a muddy field!

I'll be out tonight with friends drinking beer and taking part in a General Knowledge quiz at a local pub. Cheers! I couldn't let this thread die now could I, Thor Thanks for the ressurection, Tim! Since I can't drink alcohol anymore, I'm less likely to update this thread every other Friday or Saturday, but hey.....I can go out without booze too. So maybe tomorrow. Hope you did well at the quiz. 2nd out of 11 teams, not bad eh? What hurts is that we lost by only 1 point, when you lose by a tiny margin you go over all the questions you should have got right ( and there were a few 'correct' answers we changed ), better to lose by a large margin. That's true. 1 point is just annoying. Tonight, I'm going out on my first Friday Beer in a long time, so even though it will be non-alcoholic for me, it shoudl be good.

Last weekend I indulged in a few pints of that hallowed American swill, Pabst Blue Ribbon, because we had some Bratwurst for dinner (one boils them in beer during the first stage of preparation). As Hemingway would say, the Pabst (4 pints for $3.50) "was good." Surprising crisp and fresh, with no signs of skunkiness. It was 88 degrees here last week (30 C), so the beer was refreshing. My dad used to drink Pabst Blue Ribbon in the '70s, and knowing this, my wife laughed at me when I selected the brand from the shelf at the market. I've never known this brand of beer to be available in bottles, but then that would defeat the purpose, wouldn't it?

When I update this thread, it's usually in advance. But I've had a great night on the town....complete with dancing, checking up girls and singing in a piano bar. Screw you!!! Anyways, wanted to wish you all good night. I'll go to bed soon. And if you're hours after me, plkease drink beer! It's what Fridays are for, dammit! Oh my God, Thor dancing AND singing. I'm sure it was a hilarious sight. :-D And what does the doctor say about the beers? ;-D
