Yeah, and looking up his credits on IMDb.com I've found that he was a gas station attendant in MIGHTY JOE YOUNG. I'll have to look at my Blu-ray of that to see. And I'd forgotten that he was "Harry" in LONELY ARE THE BRAVE, the judge in HOUR OF THE GUN, and the dentist/doctor or whatever who takes care of Dutchy in WILL PENNY. That episode of "Gunsmoke" I saw him on the other day was the "Gypsum Hills Feud" from December 27, 1958.
He also played the Admiral on "Get Smart" though somewhat unrecognizable under that makeup.
He used that makeup for one of his appearances on The Wild Wild West as a rascally moneybags - also he got play one on our hero's substitute partners (and a villain!).
