The Indominus Rex has the ability to camouflage itself, including 'blacking out' the heat signature. A result of the DNA tinkering. So Owen and the others have no reason to assume it's still in the enclosure. There are no plot holes or continuity errors here. In fact, one of the best scenes of the entire movie.

Ah, but I notice you don't mention that they could pinpoint the dinos location with a phone callsmile

It's not a plot hole or continuity error, just lazy & stupid scriptwriting. Let's agree to differ, I'm with Last Child, these films aren't worth a debate.

Agreed.

Watched this film for the first time in decades.

That often? It was hard to watch once, what with the annoying kids and granddad, sappy Williams music and awestruck in-love reaction shots to the fx. Possibly I'm in the minority on this.

I haven't done a retrospective review, but I hated the film when it came out. Technically brilliant, lovely score, but the rest, I disliked immensely. I've watched it over the years on VHS, DVD, cable for the things I did like about the film. Though watching it again I enjoyed it a lot more. Maybe because compared to today's blockbuster films it's actually evokes a reaction. Where most of today's films are soulless and leave me cold to the bone.

Edit: Regarding the kids they're actually far less annoying than most kids in Hollywood films.

This used to be my favorite film, and it's still one of my favorites. Spielberg sets up great set pieces, and executes them perfectly. The T Rex attack on the trucks, the raptors in the kitchen to name a few. It's a thrilling film. I'm glad you're starting to appreciate it solium.smile

Shortly after the release of JURASSIC PARK the Utah raptor was discovered, which is about the size of the raptors in the film. Just FYI.smile

The dilophosaurus did not have a frill or shoot venom, that was Spielberg's creative license which was a good one!

Good-nice movie JP 93.

What made the movie quite memorable was the solid cast an script, also creating likable characters that you wanted to root & care for this was an enjoyable narrative & packed with unknown suspense throughout, Spielberg was at his near best delivering both wonder & terror that works perfectly with the dinosaurs an cast they were not evil creatures just dangerous.

Effects wise, its done pretty well using CGI, the T-Rex attacks remain some of the most thrilling sequences while the Raptor's are still some of the most edgy, scariest ever put on the franchise, thus allowing them to hold-up as they give each work real character whether it be T-Rex's power or the Raptor's uncanny intelligence.

I don't really like the later movies they relied more on computer graphics & lacked the scripts an cast to the original. JP is a good movie but its not Spielberg's best if you compare adventure/action to Jaws, Close-E, Raiders Etc, not at that level for me.

I liked JP3, maybe because it made fun of the cliches in the series.

When discussing the news about someone creating a Woolly Mammoth/modern elephant hybrid, a comedian joked "They'll probably call it a Mammadoodle."

I totally agree with you, the T-Rex attach and Raptors in the kitchen are masterful film-making. All these years later those set pieces remain intense and pulls me into the drama.

I originally didn't like the kids, but the boy was book smarts charming, and the little girl could act her butt off. Her reactions sold the terror. Originally I didn't care for the whole Grant learning how to be comfortable around children subplot, but I realize now it actually allows the character to grow. because he learns to care more about the living than the dead. Makes him a more well rounded person.

I do have a lot of issues with the film, other than the over all plot (which I can write about endlessly) the feminist crap, the characters constantly mumbling their words, among other things.

But watching it again I realize I felt the characters terror, and wanted them to survive. I can't say that about most modern day films.

You're talking about the SOUND OF MUSIC, right? In JP, I was rooting for the lawyer, Newman and the T-Rex.

It's the only time I ever felt bad for a lawyer.

There's a much bigger error (that's so big that I won't mention it here as it may be a spoiler for something coming) in Fallen Kingdom...which I enjoyed immensely.

I remember seeing this for the first time. I was 16 and saw it with my parents at a theater that isn't there anymore, Signal Hills 5. It was the first time we had to wait in line for a movie. It was packed! They let us in a little early, so got to listen to Williams' end credit music which was a treat. I even remember they showed the trailer to LAST ACTION HERO before the movie started. Then the DTS logo appeared with the great sound. Everyone in the theater was glued to the film. They awed at the brachiosaur, they were terrified by the t rex and raptors. It was a great time. I then saw the film 16 more times in the theater.

Haha yes I can....but if you insist....possible MAJOR spoiler here so please be warned....I forget who says it, it's such a whirlwind of fun, but there's a line in Fallen Kingdom where someone deliberately says "Hammond had no Grandchildren"...so who were Lex and Tim? Also clones, as with Maisey? Wasn't Hammond against Human cloning? Or were they experiments? Or did I miss something? (perfectly possible)
