My one and only issue with Vestoff's performance, is her speaking "say the tradesmen with a grin", which to my director's mind, should be sung! I saw a production of the show at Ford's Theatre, this summer, and the Abagail was the best thing about it.

I never had the chance to see the lady on stage, but I've always loved her as Abigail, and was so sorry to learn that she passed at such a young age.
It was always a thrill for me when I recognized her doing a TV commercial.

Heaven, for me, would be spending all eternity directing plays and musicals.

This musical works on many levels. It is my favorite musical, primarily because of actor, Donald Madden, who played John Dickinson. He never played the part on stage, but he certainly made it his own in the film. Sadly, it is the only film work he did.
