I have never understood those farewell-posts people write. Like most others, he will be back.

Not to be shitty here, but why does every poster feel the need to announce their imminent departure from the board? . to brighten up our day?

As always, Ron, your royal reign as SOGS (Seccatary of Good Sense) remains utterly unchallenged. That 'TOLERANCE' was quite key. [ Most tymes around this snipe-yard we woefully wonder if some can even spell the dang word, let alone practice (or appreciate and fergeddabout actually embodying it). ] Enuff. As for DTM, we don't believe in 'goodbye' or 'farewell'. Life's journeys are far too wide for such suppositions, so we'll merely add twas a pleasure sharing syllables plus exchanging insights and perspectives (major-minor, wacko / weird, ageless or fleeting). Thus - with Respect ...

my only question is -- who was Dan the man?? anyone who offers absolutely no info on who he is and posts as often as he did here almost seems like an invisible man - also his last post on the Hurricane Sandy thread - talking about life beginning at inception - had me wondering ... who is this guy ? Yep, I agree. Never understood a word! I looked at his profile to see if he was from a non-English speaking part of the world and of course: Nada! Neit! Nowt! Not a bread crumb! Please fill in your profile details chaps and chapesses!

I don't mind of someone gives an exit message of that person is a prominent poster. Dan's posts and threads were legion and often divisive, so suddenly disappearing would probably make a lot of people wonder why he stopped contributing. People like me, however, who don't rock the boat or court controversy, probably wouldn't be noticed if we dropped off. We're just kind of "there" most of the time. Speaking for myself, I wouldn't have a reason to sever ties in a dramatic fashion anyway. If I drop off, it's because I have nothing to talk about.
