The two greatest actors of all time for me have to be Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy. The only two that will always make me smile regardless of my mood! could watch them any time, any day.

For me it's always comes down to the performances. Doesn't matter if we are talking actors, directors, composers. Some of my favorite films are by directors whom only done one good film in my opinion. Same with actors. They can really shine or be gawd awful.

Simon Callow
Harrison Ford
Patrick Stewart
Paul McGann
... and Emily Blunt just for being Emily Blunt - possibly the prettiest human in the cosmos!

I've seen Callow and Stewart on stage in the West End which was mouth watering. Paul McGann's command of sympathy/empathy is simply jaw dropping, and his voice makes me hate my life!! Harrison is Harrison... and he's so damn good at it! Now .... let's see Emily play ....!! big grin

I've found that in the area of carpenters, you can have more than one favorite. smile

I also want to add James Spader to my list. He is also an actor I have to see every film he has made. Just an amazing talent.

And Maury Chaykin. His Nero Wolfe will always be my fav.

Spader's run as Alan Shore on Boston Legal/The Practice was one of the most stunning TV characters of all time. Endlessly brilliant. As for films, my favorite Spader turn is in Wolf. He played "despicable and slimey" like nobody else can.

Agree with all you said. Also loved him in Jack's Back. Needs a DVD release something bad. But if anyone wants to see a humorous turn for Spader's slimeball act, you have got to see him in Mannequin. He's hysterical in that.
