GORGO-59/61 Now THAT would be worth seeing.....in a 3D double bill with, Them!....? I finally caught Titanic in 3D today....I must be honest, I personally have little time for that film...but there's no denying the quality of the conversion....If Mr Cameron Sir wanted to apply the same measures to The Abyss and Terminator 2 I would certainly be in the queue...particularly for the former... The other day I also got passed a copy of the 3D The Running Man Blu...long time fan of the film anyway, but not a fan of the conversion...little or no depth in about 95% of the movie, sadly... ....but, sticking with Arnie...anyone out there that would also like to see Verhoeven's Total Recall given the 3D treatment? I didn't realise Dawn of the Planet of the Apes was coming in 3D, but that suits me...and yes, Planet.... would be good to see converted (as would, I have to say, Burton's version). I wonder if the vast Krell underground complex would gain anything from the process . . . Indeed!! I think a lot of that film would benefit, personally...

Certainly there are some films I wouldn't mind seeing in 3D but honestly most modern 3D films fall flat to me. The 3D effects that work seem to be so fleeting and temporary I don't think it is worth it. You pay extra to see like 5 or 10 little things that "work" in 3D and the rest of the movie has tons of stuff that looks like it was intended to pop out or whatever but simply doesn't. Yeah - it does run hot and cold.....when it's good it can be startling, awe-inspiring, beautiful...but when it's bad, well... But there are some good modern films that have excellent 3D in them... My list (so far) - copied and pasted from another thread: Good 3D (for me): Captain America, Bait, Avengers, Green Lantern, Avatar, Amazing Spider-Man, Jurassic Park, Life of Pi, Tangled, Clash of the Titans, Transformers 3, Jackass 3D, Prometheus, Dredd, Saw 3D, Piranha 3D, TRON: Legacy, Despicable Me, Top Gun, Man of Steel, and Star Trek Into Darkness, Titanic Bad 3D (for me): Thor, Iron Man 3, Abraham Lincoln - Vampire Hunter, Sanctum, Wrath of the Titans, Three Musketeers, Shark Night, Piranha 3DD, The Running Man, Oz The Great & Powerful That's the tally so far...not a judgement of the quality of the films, just my opinion of the use of 3D in those films.

I was kind of hoping they'd do a 3D conversion on MARY POPPINS for its 50th. Alas, no.

The original "Star Wars". I heard it was going to be done, but got put on the back burner due to the Lucasfilm/Disney deal.... Later, perhaps. They do now have two of the six done - Star Wars - Episode II: Attack of the Clones was completed, but the general theatrical release planned for this fall was shelved; however, it was shown as a convention exclusive treat at this year's Star Wars Celebration Europe back in July. Star Wars - Episode III: Revenge of the Sith was going to be released just a month or so after Episode II (the pre-Disney-buyout plan would have had it coming out this month, actually), so presumably a great deal of the work had been done already (though I'm guessing it wasn't completed yet if it wasn't shown at the convention alongside Episode II). I think it's pretty much certain the new trilogy and the "side" movies will be presented in 3d. With I, II and VII through IX plus several spinoffs all in 3d, and work already done on III, it seems likely they'd go ahead and finish them all off sometime - but who knows when? Update: it was just announced the entire prequel trilogy will be shown in 3d at Star Wars Celebration Anaheim in April, along with the original trilogy in 2d; this will be the 3d debut of Star Wars - Episode III: Revenge of the Sith (as noted above, Episode II was shown at a previous convention back in July of 2013). I can't imagine these conversions are being completed just for limited screenings at conventions, unless they were very close to completion already anyway when the Disney acquisition altered the original plans; now I have to wonder how much work might have been done on any of the originals, whether and when they might be seen at a con, and whether and when they might get a wider release.
