Ol' Straussie has a Salvador Dali thing going on in that picture.

Here's my favourite photo of Dali. Taking his anteater for a walk in Paris, as you do....

I haven't listened to John Denver for a while. Still miss him...

This evening I put on the CD of Vladimir Horowitz playing the 3rd piano concerto of Rachmaninoff with Eugene Ormandy and the New York Philharmonic, which was recorded shortly before Horowitz came to the Los Angeles Music Center and performed it with the Los Angeles Philharmonic (with, as I recall, Carlo Maria Giulini, a performance that I recorded from an FM simulcast onto reel-to-reel tape, and then, years later, transferred that to cassette and even to digital (despite the dreadful sonics!) -- wish they had released THAT performance on CD!

And to Josh Mitchell, what's that? Non-soundtrack? Reminds me that just 2 nights ago I bought Vangelis' music for "Alexander," which IS soundtrack, so it doesn't belong in this thread. What's "El Greco"?

EL GRECO is a studio album. It's pretty good; taps into some of the same textures as 1492. Haven't played it in ages, though.

I'm a big fan of Jimmy Webb, so I've been enjoying his new album of collaborations with people like Keith Urban, Rumer, Joe Cocker, Amy Grant and others...

I love Jimmy Webb. I didn't know about this collaborations album and must check it out.

You should enjoy it then, Timmer. It's actually the 2nd such album he has done recently, in which he has collaborated with people on new versions of some of his best known songs. Both albums are excellent, in my opinion.

The Ocean Blue Self-titled 1989 debut album. Reminds me of that floating, directionless feeling one has in the first few months after high school graduation, which was when I first listened to these songs...
