I had just finished going through my old sets of "I Spy" so it's nice to know that it's going to be remastered at a cheap price that'll make doing an upgrade a no-brainer.

I hope the "Mannix" fans who have never seen S1 with the different format don't get put off by it that they don't buy it, and kill chances of future releases.

I will buy MANNIX because of season 1's techno concept: intertect run by Lew Wickersham (Joseph Campanella).
I hope Paramount will release it in one season set?

As for "I Spy", I am also a candidate to buy these three "clean" season sets--I already own a box set #3 with second-rate prints and in disorder but it features Robert Culp's comments on six episodes.

Fantastic news about I SPY!

At $20 per season, this is a no-brainer -- I'll grab these the instant they're out.

Also, any word on the fourth season DVD release of VOYAGE TO THE BOTTOM OF THE SEA?

There's been no word from Fox, and they have now gone longer than the spacing was for the last several sets in terms of an announcement and release date. You would think that after going to the trouble of getting all other Irwin Allen shows out, they wouldn't forget about the last season of Voyage, but this is Fox after all, which is bar none the worst studio in terms of handling classic TV, and who have a long trail of abandoned titles on their label.

"Hawaii Five-O" Season 4 rumor for June release has been posted. Looks like we can at least guarantee the entire Kono run on DVD. smile

Also, the same rumor mill indicates a S4 release of "The Odd Couple" for the same time period, which would also indicate that Paramount's looking to have the whole series completed in time for next Christmas.

The only thing that makes me wonder about those new I SPY sets is that they're supposed to hold 28 episodes on five discs. Sounds double-sided to me...

Great news on S4 Five-O. I've been watching the first two seasons again, as well as my lousy syndicated copies.

Where do you find the time to watch all these TV shows, Eric? It took me over a year just to get through three seasons of BEWITCHED.

Timeless Media, which last fall released some vintage, lesser-known Universal shows of the 50s and 60s on DVD (a case where they used collectors 16mm prints and then licensed the title only from Universal) will follow-up in February with second volumes of "Checkmate" (1960-62), "Arrest And Trial" (1963-64) and the "Virginian" spinoff "Laredo" (1965-67). While the quality on these episodes is not as good as an official Universal release would look like, it is better than public domain quality and realistically the only way we'd ever see these titles ever given a DVD release. They're well worth picking up!

FIRST NEWS:

Image Entertainment is about to release the series "I Spy" in an intelligent way--as I wished--:
1. chronological order season set, meaning three boxes (season 1, season 2, season 3)
2. clean remastered copies
Read the announcement:
http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/news/Spy-Remastered-Season-Sets/8684
Release date: April 29, 2008
Price for each season set: $19.98

Read this please:

"I've already got the complete first edition (21 DVD's) + I Spy Returns, but this may be worth looking into. Robert Culp was at the last Hollywood Collector's Show and mentioned he had been recording some new stuff for another batch of the DVD's."

I'm pleased that The Mike Douglas Show is getting some kind of release on March 25:

Afternoon talk shows aren't like this anymore... frown

And I repeat my usual mantra: Where's Bonanza?

That is such great news. I'd been putting off buying the sets for so long, they went out of print and the prices started to skyrocket. eBay prices were getting ridiculous.

That Culp may be doing more commentaries for the rereleases is icing on the cake. Sometimes it pays to procrastinate.

*WAGON TRAIN*

In the late 50s & early 60s in England, "Wagon Train" was such a big show. I have great (but dim) memories of enjoying this - esp. the Ward Bond eps. I'd have thought that buy now there would be a few good looking box sets; but ....nothing.

"The Invaders - Paramount Lets Them Land: DVDs Finally Invade This Coming May!"
Roy Thinnes Stars In This Eerie Sci-Fi Series
Posted by David Lambert (1/22/2008)

The Quinn Martin-produced series "The Invaders", which ran on ABC in 1967 and '68, starred Roy Thinnes as "David Vincent" in an hour-long full-color science fiction drama that lasted 43 episodes over the course of two seasons. Fans have been highly vocal in wanting to see the series released on DVD in North America, and perhaps none more so than "JeffT.", a member of the Home Theater Forum discussion website.

Today Jeff, and other "Invaders" fans will get their wish: Paramount has announced this morning that they are letting "The Invaders - Season 1" land on DVD this coming May 6th! All 17 episodes from the first mid-season run come in a 14.5-hour set. Other details, such as box art, number of discs, pricing, and extras (if any) are not available yet. But stay tuned and we'll keep you updated! For now, here's the studio description:

"David Vincent (Roy Thinnes) knows that The Invaders, alien beings from a dying planet, have arrived to take over the Earth! To make matters worse, the aliens know who he is, and most of the time where he is. Somehow he must convince a disbelieving world that the nightmare has already begun."

I hope the US INVADERS set corrects the subtitle authoring glitches that plagued the overseas sets. And dare we hope for extras? (Interviews...commentary...75 minute pilot?)

Mission: Impossible, Season 4 also announced for May 13.

The first season without Landau and Bain, the first with Leonard Nimoy.

Mission: Impossible, Season 4 also announced for May 13.

2008 is looking every bit as good as 2007 in terms of classic TV releases.

Should be receieving Five-O S3 tomorrow.
