Boxed set remasters of Metallica's first two albums: Kill 'Em All and Ride The Lightning.

Certainly, KEA sounds better than I've heard it in thirty years. RTL sounds more like the old vinyl than the 2000s CD, and is pretty clear and crisp.

Two CD's in the mail yesterday:

ON AN ISLAND - David Gilmour (replacing an older copy I had which I gave away as a Christmas gift to my father)
RATTLE THAT LOCK - David Gilmour (the latest studio album)

I have a couple of more CD's on the way, but it's been at least a year since the last time.

SWANS- 3-CD reissue of White Light from the Mouth of Infinity and Love of Life. The so-called "Bunnies/Failures" era.

I hadn't owned these since 1992 though I have listened to them occasionally over the decades via YouTube. I foolishly parted ways with the cds long ago (though I kept the Bill Laswell-produced The Burning World). The new three-CD set is well remastered and sonically a huge improvement over the previous releases--especially "White Light", which really needed a remaster. The third disc is of B-sides, live tracks, and selected tracks from Swans side project, World of Skin, which could also use a new release.

The music holds up for me and is so much more than the nostalgia of my early 20s, when these albums were first released.

Nice!

Good to see that the CD isn't dead yet in Haga's household.

I have On An Island, but haven't really heard Rattle That Lock yet.

Two more CD's today:

ELECTRONICA 1: THE TIME MACHINE (Jean Michel Jarre)
ELECTRONICA 2: THE HEART OF NOISE (Jean Michel Jarre)

Took me long enough, but there you go. Of course, I've heard several of the tracks already -- they've been all over the internet, after all (Youtube, Facebook etc.), but I've tried to steer as clear as possible, making my first proper exposure when I got the physical discs.

Anyways, of course both of these volumes deliver! Brilliant stuff.

Nirvana's Bleach - the remastered version, and that remastering has made a world of difference.
Every song on it is catchy as all hell, and it kind of sums up my love of The Melvins (Kurt's biggest influence at the time) better than any actual Melvins album does.

Yes, anyone who likes NEVERMIND or IN UTERO should eventually get this album to complete the trio of "real" Nirvana albums. The production/mixing is a bit "murky" sounding compared to the second and third "proper" studio albums, and people can be forgiven for perhaps not having seen the greatness that would later emerge from the band, but there's talent on display here.

"About a Girl", "Mr. Mustache", "Negative Creep", "Blew", "School" and "Floyd the Barber" are particular standouts for me....

yeah, so many good ones, Love Buzz is my current fav. I do miss those Dave Grohl beats, but even considering that -although I might be biased towards the punkier vibe- I'd say the consistent quality and immediacy of the songs on this one outshine the overall landscapes on the latter albums.

also the included live show from 1990 sounds equally good, and it's a great performance by the band.
