actually ive always been proud that my two passions - films-film music and football - are shared by the maestro from Rome and b) very few others. its a weird mix of intetests. no wonder there are only 5 of us on here and occasionals.

You can add Shostakovich to that list. He was a big fan of Zenit Leningrad, attended matches, kept details about the games in notebooks and even wrote reviews of some games for the local press. All that, plus the greatest composer of the 20th century....

The Occasionals! Sounds like a Richard Brooks film from the '60s. Great Jarre score, too. wink

Yes, the footie-films-film music connection is a rare one but I am rare in that I don't care much for sci-fi/fantasy stuff like the majority here do.

yeah, the 0ccasionals!! 1966. 4 mercenaries pop across the border to rescue a landowners wife from the bloodiest cut-throat in mexico - but they only feel like riding 2 days out of every 5, get a bit bored and come back. They might go back next week. if not, maybe next spring. see how they feel.

Remy fails his Liverpool physical, so the deal is off.

Strange one that. There were rumours of a delay, but I thought it was just paperwork. Concerns were raised at his medical and a second opinion confirmed it. Heart defect, apparently. Pity, as we won't get someone as good as him for that fee and we need another striker. No doubt someone will take a chance and he will bang in 30 goals!!

Newcastle and their genius manager, Alan Pardew, have expressed interest in Loic Remy.

http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/football/28586366

The genius himself:

"The results speak for themselves, the fans loved him and I think it's a great place for him personally. There is a lot of baggage in the way at the moment because of what happened at Liverpool, and the fact he has a parent club in QPR. But I wouldn't say we're not interested in him, of course we would be."

If this signing goes through, I wonder if it will somehow come to haunt Liverpool?

I guess it's not so kooky nuts since Citeh own the New York whatever they're called.

Can't blame them for ensuring they get all the cash they might be entitled to - we've had years of profligacy going back to Ridsdale's goldfish.

Wish I could comment on what's happening down at ER, but it's impossible to know what's going on at present. Massimo's no fly by night, though, given his long ownership of Cagliari. We Leeds fans can only hope that good things are happening behind the scenes.

Glass half full!

Oh lovely smile Mourinho will not like that! And with Mourinho saying that he's happy to stick with that goal machine Torres, it should be an interesting season.

presumably its only for a few months so not exactly title changing.
and will Lampard play a lot? doubt it.

its been 24 hours and no one from west ham has been sold, long-term injured or arrested for slapping women about.
things could be looking up.
whenever we have previously had appalling pre-seasons we have usually had better seasons proper.
then again i recall an appalling pre-season when we were so bad we went down.
i guess that stat is bollocks and so you better ignore it.

have liverpool not bought anyone from southampton in the last two days??

I'm probably mistaken, but doesn't Torres only score goals when the pressure's off, like when they're up 2-0 or down 3-0? I remember his first match vs. Southampton...er, Liverpool, and he looked like a haunted man; scared to cause any change in the score.
