109,318 watch Manchester United 3-Real Madrid 1...in Michigan, which is a huge college (American) football town. That's great to see. smile

Tomorrow in Miami, the final to this thing takes place. It won't get those numbers above, but tickets have sold well:

Did you see this article about the Great Southampton Sell Off of 2014?

Too bad FIFA doesn't institute a salary cap so that there's some semblance of parity in European football. It's always the same teams winning and getting the best players.

Manchester United 3 Liverpool 1

It was just that international tour thing, but I try and follow up on the bilge I post.

http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/football/28649314

I love how they wheel the aging Stevie G. up to the penalty spot in order to pad his goals scored stat because God knows the old man can't net the ball in open play anymore. frown

I didn't even bother to watch it. These Pre Season friendlies are pretty much meaningless affairs, giving out silver pots at the end to make it seem like a 'tournament'...

http://www.ftbpro.com/posts/chris.deeley/1148894/the-myth-of-the-meaningful-pre-season

Also Pepe Reina is signing for Bayern Munchen, to sit on their bench for the season. It's a shame how his Liverpool career ended, at his peak he was a much better 'keeper than Mignolet. Most Liverpool supporters I know have serious reservations about him, to put it politely. I'd be interested to hear what Kev thinks.

Match of the Day panel for 2014/15:

Ruud Gullit (bit full of himself but interesting opinions as shown in the World Cup)

Danny Murphy (good pundit, as shown in the World Cup)

Phil Neville (useless, as shown in the World Cup)

Alan Shearer ("Well Alan, that was an interesting game. What do you think?" "Yes, Gary, that was an interesting geeaame....") #tumbleweed

Robbie Savage (strong opinions, some reasonable, some amusing, but soooooo up himself)

Rio Ferdinand (OMFG)

I suspect I'll be recording it and fast forwarding 99% of the chat.

Celtic (that's a team in Scotland, Jimbowink) have been reinstated in the UCL after Legia Warsaw fielded an ineligible player against them in the last round...who came on as a sub in the 86th minute!! Dreadful error on their part. Personally, I thought Celtic fielded an entire team who shouldn't have been playing...

Celtic will remain forever in my football heart ever since they beat Barcelona 2-1 in the Champions League group stage a couple of years ago. Until they do something like that again, screw 'em!

its started.

with a 1 1.

and west ham supposed to do a deal for amalfitano - who had a short loan with west brom - and peter crouch?
great.

not all bad news though, as Crouch has said hes not interested.
just need amalfitano to do the same.

then buy a proper striker.

With that refusal, would that make West Ham the only team Peter Crouch hasn't played for?

probably. hes chalked up a few.
lets be honest the downside is that anyone coming thinks they will be dropped for andy carroll when hes fit in a few months time.

Let's see if I remember my sacred template for the weekly recaps...

Week One, August 9, 2014

English Championship

Millwall 2 Leeds United 0

New Leeds manager Dave Hockaday starts his tenure with a loss away as Millwall score early and then late on a penalty to put away Tall Guy's brave warriors.
