Just read that Kino-Lorber will be releasing Sergio Sollima's excellent spaghetti western, Faccia A Faccia (Face To Face).

That got me excited till I read the run time listed on Amazon for the Blu-ray is listed at 93 minutes, when is should be 107 minutes. Same debacle as the Eureka release back in 2010. Eventually Eureka did release the full version.

Got a response from Kino-Lorber on Face To Face.

"The version re-mastered in HD is the American English language version which has a running time of 93 minutes. The Kino Lorber DVD and BD release includes the HD version of the 93 Minute English language version and the SD version of the 107 minute Italian version as an extra."

It's nice to get the 107 minute version, but why only in SD? The longer version is the superior one.

When is "The Satan Bug" coming out? Kino-Lobber said that it was going to be in the Summer, and now it's August. Will it be next month?

The Satan Bug blu-ray is available to preorder now at $11.49. Trying to find some reviews, but I'll probably get it anyway as it's so cheap, due to the Amazon K-L sale.

The absence of Carl Davis' excellent score (and he usually never disappoints in any of his silent film scores) is a big letdown. I have it on my Image DVD set, and was hoping to see that on this BD release.

You posted a video in reply to my question about the price of SATAN BUG.
Since I can't view the video, what does it say?

Oh I see. It's the original trailer advertising the film, with George Maharis speaking to the camera.

Hi Dragon. I can't say for sure, but I think it will go up. There was one previous K-L sale and prices on discounted items did go back up. I don't know how long this sale will last, but the current pre-order price on Satan Bug is pretty good. WAY lower than I would have expected.

I just hope it's a decent transfer.

RIOTENGINE:

The sale lasts through August.

I was looking at prices on older Kino releases and they dropped over a period of time, so I was wondering if SATAN BUG might be cheaper in the future.

I'm thinking about getting THE GREAT TRAIN ROBBERY and RUN SILENT RUN DEEP. I've seen both on dvd, and they didn't impress me, but that was a long time ago. Another possibility is THE WHITE BUFFALO which I've never seen---but it has a great cast.

Kino-Lorber seems to acquired some of the films in the CBS theatrical film library (Cinema Center Films) for release on Blu-ray. These films were released on DVD by Paramount. Amazon has pre-orders up for:

THE REVENGERS (August 25th release)
THE REIVERS (August 25th release)
PRIME CUT
MONTE WALSH

Paramount has already released Blu-rays of these Cinema Center Films:

BIG JAKE
LE MANS
LITTLE BIG MAN
A MAN CALLED HORSE
RIO LOBO
SCROOGE

It looks like a fire sale at MGM, so many titles licensed out by so many small companies. Some transfers very good, some not so good.
----------------------------------------------------------------
So true. There are Blu-rays being issued by Shout/Scream Factory, Kino-Lorber, Twilight Time, and MGM itself. Any others?

It looks like Olive Films is also releasing some of the MGM catalog.

They have issued Blu-rays of the AIP films:

BEACH BLANKET BINGO
COFFY
COOLEY HIGH
FOXY BROWN
FRIDAY FOSTER
MUSCLE BEACH PARTY
PSYCH-OUT
THE THING WITH TWO HEADS

and from UA they've issued:

ALICE'S RESTAURANT
CAVEMAN
HAMMER
A HOLE IN THE HEAD
HOW TO MURDER YOUR WIFE
IT! THE TERROR FROM BEYOND SPACE
KISS ME, STUPID
NED KELLY
THE NIGHT THEY RAIDED MINSKY'S
PORK CHOP HILL
ROAD TO HONG KONG
TEACHERS
WHAT DID YOU DO IN THE WAR, DADDY?

and from Orion they've issued:

BEST SELLER
BLUE SKY
LITTLE MAN TATE
WITHOUT A CLUE

and from Cannon they've issued:

ALLAN QUATERMAIN AND THE LOST CITY OF GOLD
FIREWALKER

and they have plans to issue BLACK CAESAR and SLAUGHTER on September 22nd. Plus they've issued titles from other MGM-held companies such as Filmways, the Samuel Goldwyn Company, and Trans World Entertainment.

Apparently, MGM cannot license these things fast enough.
