The ship is another character in the series, just like the Enterprise was in the original series.
WRONG!!!!!
This was Thor's stupid reason for not liking THE SAND PEBBLES that much -- because the ship in the movie wasn't that strong enough a "character" for him.
Can someone tell me when this idiocy began? Outside of "Herbie the Love Bug" or "My Mother the Car", when was it that a vehicle, be it a ship or whatever, become a character?
Ships are settings.
If you want to think of them as characters, "boldly go", but you go as a hopeless nerd.

Worst episode thus far. Leave it to the black dude to screw things up in the most childish, irresponsible, crass way. When he goes on an apology tour it was stressed he should sound sincere, but he instead puts on a total half-hearted BS act that just oozes what a jackass he is. Then when he gets out of punishment, he pretty much gives the people of the planet a virtual middle finger. In my opinion he deserved to be fired from his job on the Orville then “corrected”! I get the social commentary Seth was going for here, but it couldn’t be more poorly written.
Well another baaaad episode. It was like the worst of Next Generation. Really Seth, stop trying to do NG and write something actually funny or dramatic. This last episode was so lame. Orville shows promise, but I need to see improvement in scripts as the season progresses, not a regression.
I have really, really been enjoying this show. It's not perfect, but now that they've got a second season ordered I'm hoping they can fine tune what works and what doesn't. I've had a hard time explaining the tone of it to friends but the best description I've seen is that it's like TNG-era Star Trek but with 21st Century people. I've also been watching Star Trek: Discovery weekly via CBS All Access and that show is a huge disappointment. I'm not expecting to watch past the first season but I'm looking forward to more from The Orville.
