Thats a good shout joanie.

To be honest joanie, im not sure what i thought.
Its still a good series but i do rankle when american scriptwriters drag stuff on and toy with their audience. And then drag it some more.
Also i still find the various attacks very scrappy and without much cohesion, plus the whole jesus thing is irritating - a battle where they are still underdogs and its in the balance and he wants to risk all by having dangerous likely to breakout prisoners in their midst thus putting the whole outcome in jeopardy. Thats not just dumb it doesnt make any sense. And jesus - who so far has been practical - suddenly changes persona to suit the storyline.
The fight with stick man and jesus was just daft.
I much preferred daryls version - rick gives his word and daryl just blows the bloke away.
Thats how to be sure.

Do we take that inside man has double crossed them as the big guns were moved?
Or that negan got wind of attack from another source?

I don't know how Negan knew about the guns. It will be a surprise. Stickman and Darryl are having some kind of a catharsis, a rather murderous one. Don't know where that will go.

I remember when this show was tense and frightening. When death felt like it was around every corner and survival depended on quick wits and being ruthless. Now, they're running in circles. I get that Rick and Negan aren't about to die any time soon, but they are keeping them alive by making everyone who has a chance to kill either of them look stupid. Negan isn't frightening and hasn't been since the premiere of season 7. And since the uproar over the graphic deaths in that episode, the show has pulled back too far. Not surprisingly, the deaths of Abraham and Glenn was the last time I felt on edge, scared or worried for them.

Now it's all action, action, action, tigers, Jesus being obnoxious and Maggie being an idiot. And Rick cracking every time someone gets the jump on him.

This series used to be brilliant, now it's just running on empty. AMC says they can keep it running for decades. Well, I stopped watching The Simpson's in 2004, I can drop TWD any time...

Oh dear.

I think the scene showing the saviours pinned in their building might have explained a lot if it had been shown in episode 1. The lack of saviours in 4 episodes would have been understood.

First of all we had stick man morgan and jesus fighting, which was silly enough - now we have rick and daryl wrestling which causes the loss of the dynamite and big machine gun. Nothing really vital to the battle ahead. Utter nonsense.

Why do scriptwriters who do well with a vehicle start thinking they can get away with anything? And basically start taking the piss out of their audience. Its soap style - characters have massive persona changes just to suit the storyline.

Im not digging it. Episode was slow and a filler.

And i bet the viewing figures back that up.

What did you think joan, wanderer, etc?

I did my notes as I watched it for my mate, but there's nothing positive so I'll not bother posting thdm. I think I'm one episode behind. There's just the massive structural problem that they insist on keeping. Chopping it up znd non linear but it just means you don't get to know the people, don't know the plans, have no idea where these various locations are in relation to each other. The plan apparently isn't agreed upon with different groups doing different things - some keep prisoners/some kill - one group does not go to back the other up after they've done their bit. It's yet more proof all Rick does is get everyone killed.

The speeches are embarrassing, badly written and just nĂ´nsense and repeated in every episode. The baddies who killed every single Soldier of the King didn't hear him scream as he woke up? Jerry ran off so far he didn't go to help? Carol sees five people loading a truck then doesn't notice two have walked off? She's gets out if it in just a really badly written way. An axe can cleave a person in half but can't cut a lock? Why even cut the lock, cut the thin chain fence. The writers had an idea for a cool looking scene then forced characters into it just to kill the tiger. No one asks a question of the King when he returns... Because they're extras! Big gun can't hit a jeep from five yards... And on and on and on...

Any quality ended at season 5.

I am sticking with the series all the way through season 8. Haven't been real happy with the last two episodes. I agree that some of it was filler which disappoints me. Hopefully things will improve.

I'm going to miss the tiger. Will he come as a zombie tiger??? Maybe he'll eat Negan. smile

If it was Game of Thrones he'd definitely be a zombie tiger!

The way this series is going the tiger could come back as a dragon!! Its about as believable as Rick and daryl fighting.

Lets get to the end so that we can see negan killed.

From dragons news items.
Predictable but interesting nonetheless.

" THE WALKING DEAD---the ratings slide continues as last week's episode was the lowest since Season 2 and is the biggest ratings drop in six years."

Scriptwriters...Producers....take note. Nuffin says U ****** up better than the uncontestable fact of viewing figures! wink

But they don't understand what they're doing wring, otherwise this wouldn't be the third year of doing it. They think just killing a known character will do it. Regardless of how under developed that character is.

I'm behind but saw the trapped Negan and priest episode. Best one of the series yet. The priest has never been a great character so I was hoping Negan would smash his brains in. Their escape was using the established zombie blood smock but you don't have to cover your head for some reason. Unfortunately it once again shows the uneven quality of the zombies as once they're discovered they escape from being in the middle of a horde. Also if they'd have been quiet hasn't it already been established previously in Glenn's escape from under a bin that zombies just get bored and wander off if they hear a sound or skmething?

Rick and Daryl. Dear God could they not have written a better way to lose all the guns? It makes then look moronic and didn't feel true to character. It's another big blob of bad writing.

Looks like the priest has stitched up scar-face Christian Bale accidentally with the wifey talk when they were trapped.

I like Xander Berkley and he was decent too. The problem was I really think his scenes should have been in chronological order. It really hurts the story that it's all cut up. Doesn't add anything by telling it this way.

Agreed. Especialy on the daryl n rick crap.

I wonder what tonights tosh will be.

Its ironic really - weve waited ages for the Get negan fightback - they dragged out the injustices last season and now the revenge has finally arrived they have managed to make it a confusing cluster-fk mess.

I particularly liked the 15min alleyway we got dragged down trying to persuade The King from sulking. Get on with it.

I so want scrap metal people dead. Almost as much as that longhaired saviour creep in the compound. Who is obvious troublemaker and its suicide to let him live. Id like to see maggie make a baseball bat n barbed wire of her own and walk along the saviours line and eventually pick long haired creep. Squelch.

Ricks son isnt stupid - ok he wanted to check out the wanderer he saw - but to needlessly go up against dangerous numbers of walkers and nearly end up being bitten is just dumb and scriptwriters constructing a tense moment.

And now various characters are going out - obviously to get into scrapes and help fill up the time before the actual finale.

This really is going to be a very long and dragged out goodbye this one.

Wow, I didn't really realize this thread was the WALKING DEAD whinefest.

Personally, I like the show more or less on the same level as I've always done, although I don't necessarily agree with some of the directions it's taken (the King/tiger thing, for example -- as much as I understand what Kirkman was going for here).

I think it's wrong to just criticize the series for not being a fast-paced survival horror, which I feel a lot of the criticism is about. The zombie thing was always just a narrative mechanism, a frame through which basic human relations were revealed. So that elements are dragged out (like the whole Negan/survivors thing) does not bother me, as long as it gets to some kind of closure eventually.

Any fans of FEAR THE WALKING DEAD here? Love that show too; it's currently at a place where it's less about the big mythos (like it's parent show), and more about the immediate survival.

Well, we are happy in our whinefest. And if the series was better, it wouldnt be.

I finally jacked it in about 3 episodes into this latest series, having watched it from the start.
You know it's time to quit when you can't stand ANY of the main characters anymore and don't care what happens to any of them.
The writing has dropped to such a poor level to me that I'm constantly tutting and being pulled out of the show with some lame @rse contrivance or silly act.
I deleted the episodes, cancelled the series link and moved on to something more worthwile to spend my time with.
And I feel much better for it smile
