^ I just picked up Fear Of The Dark last month at a local Best Buy store of all places (I had a gift card), and although it's no Piece of Mind, I dig it. I need to give it a few more listens to let it sink in. It's the most recent Maiden album in our collection so far, incidentally, as I started with the older stuff. Recommendations welcome.

I saw Nightwish live a couple of weeks ago. I'm not sure if it was the location of where I was in the building, or the building itself, but the sound mix seemed off, and I wasn't able to clearly understand the lyrics from the lead singer most of the time. The music itself was great, and the musicianship outstanding, but I think I would get a better appreciation for them live in a different setting.

I'll be seeing Kamelot in a couple of weeks at a venue I know has great sound; it'll be my 3rd time seeing them and I'm still excited about the repeat visit.

I think it has to do both with the venue, the sound mixer, and sometimes where you stand in relation to the speakers. Glad you enjoyed it still mostly. Also exciting that you will be seeing Kamelot. I've been awaiting their new album and it is almost here. So it should be fun to hear some of their new material live. I skipped them this time around because the tickets have gotten more expensive and I am still bitter for how bad they sounded at Iron Maiden though ultimately it was the sound guy who screwed up.

I am sure that where I was located in the venue for Nightwish didn't help. I was under the balcony and I'm sure that blocked the sound. Plus, the vocalist's lyrics just didn't come through clearly.

Now, Kamelot, that was as good as I expected. They played a few songs off the new album, including Amnesiac, one of my two or three top favorites from that album. Those guys really do know how to put on a show.
