Edw, I'm in good "loser" company with you.

Thanks joan. I'll wear my big "L" with pride.

You think im coming to america to see two self confessed losers??@ - especially if there isnt a swimsuit section!!! Ha ha x wink

Well Bill, be that way. I am somewhat relieved. The only time I saw an old man in a Speedo was when I was about 12 and we were visiting friends in Canada. We then went to a public beach and they were EVERYWHERE. I was totally creeped out. Since Canada does have a connection to Great Britain smile, I am not convinced you won't leave your Speedo at home.

I'm pretty sure you men who are bemoaning the "loss" of the swimsuit portion of the Miss America contest can get what you THINK you are missing from plenty of other sources out there. You'll survive I'm sure.

At least replace the swimsuit with military fatigues contest.

5.35 million viewers the last time around, making ABC the No. 1 non-sports network in its 2-Hour time period in adults 18-49.

Landlocked, no doubt. We're blessed with beaches 'round these parts.

We wicked men who still admire physical beauty of female body were using other sources anyway, so no big loss.
We're are just a little bit afraid this is another small step to hyper PC sterile society.

It won't be long before the SJW hordes ban swimsuits from being worn at the beach and insist upon Victorian-era coverings, though they won't refer to it as Victorian, but some "progressive" name.

Someone tweeted this:

"Miss America no longer to be judged on personal appearance.

"Long jumpers no longer to be judged on length of jump, but ability to spout "woke" progressive cliches about women's empowerment.

"Olympic swimmers to be judged on strength of virtue signal."

big grin

I prefer old-style Soviet beauty competition - and such large portions, too.

I'm fine with the swimsuit portion saying bye bye, now if they will do the same for the "talent" competition.

It usually includes tap dancing, singing Broadway hits, and at one point, ventriloquism . That doesn't end well for anyone. wink

I am opposed to hyper pc but feel that sometimes things need to evolve and improve. Our country has gone through these extreme sways before and eventually we find the center. If the change doesn't work, the promoters of the contest will find out. I am not fan of "beauty contests" and find the toddler up to teen contests abhorrent. Those are my personal views but there appears to be a huge participation out there. It leaves me shaking my head as a mom.

The Miss America, Miss Universe beauty contests/scholarship pageants have always just been cheese to me, but these toddler/child contests... are bizarre and creepy beyond belief. eek

Remember it was once obscene for a women to show her knees on the beach. Funny how the West becomes more like the middle East every day. I expect to see American girls covering their faces before long. And look at the fashion styles now, granny pants.

As we all know, the concerns of Western feminism does not extend to the Middle East ("That's their culture").

Going forward, Miss America losers no longer have to think that they simply weren't pretty enough. They can go through life knowing that they are stupid, talent-less, and just really bad people inside.

Funny isn't it that all these type of events are now tainted by US scandals, this contest has been running +100 years doing the same thing, it doesn't bother me either way I don't watch US glamour shows.

I have to admit I didn't believe you so Googled it...

"Miss America is a competition that is held annually and is open to women from the United States between the ages of 17 and 25. Originating in 1921 as a "bathing beauty revue."

I'm sure they had competitions before then but maybe just to each state, yes, 96 years is a long time to suddenly change its narrative.

Lol, reminds me of a woman who said she knew she was pretty, so if someone rejected her, she claimed it felt worse because it was personal. Not sure I believe her thesis since rejection always feels the same: it's not getting the approval we seek.
