So a follow up to the stratovarius album. It is out and it is amazing. I actually liked Polaris/Elysium even though they seem to be genuinely hated by a lot of the fans for the big change in style. Still I must admit that they are a bit cheesy at times and some parts drag. Nemesis is miles above those two and full of uplifting tracks. My only complaint is that one of the best cues (Fireborn) is a bonus track on the expensive import version only. It is so good it should be on the main album. Also, RE: The Firewind Concert I drove 1.5 hours and sat through 30 minutes of some pagan metal band that really didn't sound very good in order to catch Firewind live in Santa Ana. Got my boyfriend along and dressed up in metal clothes (black leather jacket, Kamelot T-Shirt). The show was totally worth it, and some of the best sounding live music I've heard in a long time. I didn't stay for Turisas because I am not a big fan. Hopefully we will see some big releases this year to follow up the Stratovarius album but at least we are off to a good start. Great to hear from you, my friend! I can't say I'm a fan of Stratovarius, but I highly respect them for their instrumental skill. Regardless, seeing them in concert truly would be a magnificent event, so thanks for sharing your experience! I'm with you on Turisas. They're widely regarded as one of the premier Viking/pagan/punk bands of late, but I find their tunes mostly monotone in comparison to bands of similar ilk like Amon Amarth, Falkenbach, Thyrfing, and Oakenshield.

Exactly. They are too simplistic to really be interesting. Their latest album had some draw at first but I lost interest once I realized how basic the songs were. Right now it is likely that the next band I see live will be VAMPS - a Japanese band with HYDE as the main singer. They are punk rock style. I don't know yet where they will be playing on the upcoming tour though. Also, I removed the Youtube tags from a lot of my posts. This thread was getting overloaded with too many youtube links loading at once.
