I wouldn't worry, I smell left overs from April 1st.

The talk of merging the two came out of WonderCon on Sunday, not yesterday, so who knows?

Furthermore, the director of the new one has suggested that the film can also be seen as a sequel. Even though it covers much of the same stuff as the original film, his premise was that the Necronomicon has somehow ended up back at the cabin and is forcing these events to happen, almost like a recurring pattern. And yes, this was something he stated well before April Fool's Day.

THE BRAND---movie underway about US Attorney Gregory Jessner's prosecution of leaders of the Aryan Brotherhood prison gang.

JUSTIFIED---question and answer session with Graham Yost.

Q: Will you repeat the mystery theme used in the current season?
A: "One is would we do it again? Probably not, but only because we've already done it."

Q: Is Ava returning?
A: "We plan on seeing her a lot next season."

Q: Where's Johnny?
A: "Johnny has opened a little bed and breakfast in Corben. No, we got stuck at the end of 12, and there was only so much real estate in the final episode, and we really wanted to focus on Raylan and Boyd. We did let Johnny dangle. He's out there in the wind...it's a good thing to have dangling in the wind. I don't know how, where or when he'll be used, but there's obviously a big X on his back, and on Moonie and Lee Paxton's backs, too."

Q: Is Patton Oswalt returning as Constable Bob?
A: "Yeah, Constable Bob still has his job. We just have to see. It's always our fear with these characters everybody loves: we're just terrified of wearing out the welcome. How much we see of Bob next season, I can't say. But I know that Bob is a big part of the show going forward."

Q: You've had Gerald McRaney and Jim Beaver from DEADWOOD, so is Ian McShane next?
A: "(laughs) With me, it's usually "DEADWOOD, BOOMTOWN or THE PACIFIC".

Q: There's a race between you and Kurt Sutter (SONS OF ANARCHY) for DEADWOOD stars, so will you win by getting McShane?
A: "We'll see. We've talked about it. It's just trying to talk about the right thing for him, and again subject to availability. Believe me, if we got a call from Ian McShane saying he wanted to be on the show, then maybe we would try to focus on that and find something for him. A little bit of that happened with Gerald: interest was expressed, and Tim's known him for years, and we thought this character might be a good fit for him."

Q: If you had your druthers, how long will the series continue?
A: "Druthers, really, six years. Two more seasons. It's difficult. Tim and I will both say that it's the best job we've ever had in many respects. And Tim would say he'd happily play Raylan for the rest of his life, but then it's finding the stories that really intrigue us. And in terms of this world, a big part is the Raylan and Boyd relationship. How many more moves do we have of that? That almost becomes a bigger concern. And just the Kentucky of it. if we were to move the show outside of Kentucky, it would be a very different show that we couldn't put under the JUSTIFIED banner anymore. JUSTIFIED is Kentucky."

THE AGE OF MIRACLES---movie underway based on the novel about the Earth facing disaster because of a slowing orbit as seen through the eyes of a young girl.

THE WALKING DEAD---Robert Kirkman comments on next season.

"Moving into next season, we’re going to see a very different Rick, but one of his main goals is to manage this situation with Carl and see if he can bring him back from this darkness that’s crept into him. Whether or not he’s able to do that, we’ll have to see. But this is a big change in the character of Carl, but it’s something that’s going to be weighing heavily on Rick next season."
He said about the Governor, "That’s certainly not the last that we’ll see of him. When we see him again and where we see him again, that’s the big question. It’s not going to be like it was in Season 3; it’s not going to be Rick and the Governor on a collision course with a conflict between them. He’ll be used in very different ways next season."
Kirkman said Season 4 will bring changes, "I’ll say that there are a lot of familiar elements that are remaining. Michonne is still around, Rick and his group are still in the prison, the Governor’s still out there… so there are a lot of things that are carrying over from Season 3 to Season 4, but I can’t stress how different things are going to be. There are going to be some radical changes to those elements that are going to bring in a lot of new storytelling. While [Season 4] does seem somewhat familiar, it’s going to be vastly different from Season 3."
Also, Chad L. Coleman (Tyreese), Sonequa Martin-Green (Sasha) and Emily Kinney (Beth) have been promoted to regular cast members.

FRIDAY, APRIL 5

JURASSIC PARK IV---the sequel will feature a new dinosaur villain said paleontologist Jack Horner, the sequel's technical advisor, "I can't actually tell you who that will be. But you'll want to keep the lights on after you see this movie." Speculation based on the "lights" comment is the new dinosaur is the chameleon-like Carnotaurus which was in Michael Crichton's JURASSIC PARK: THE LOST WORLD novel and in early draft of the movie script. Lights scare the Carnotaurus off and expose its color-changing camouflage.

THE BLACK HOLE---remake underway of the 1979 sci fi movie which starred Maximilian Schell, Robert Forster, Ernest Borgnine and Yvette Mimieux. The remake director is Joseph Kosinski (TRON: LEGACY, OBLIVION). The script is being rewritten by Jon Spaihts (PROMETHEUS).

Give us a decent STORY this time. I couldn't care less about fancy, "new" dinosaurs. The weakest link in Jurassic Park III was the piss-poor denouement. And that's as polite as I can phrase it.

Who the hell wants this?

OBLIVION---poster released for the Tom Cruise sci fi movie.

I'm shocked by how much I actually want to see this. Looks decent. Not great, but good. I'll see it as close to opening weekend as possible. Interesting fare doesn't fair well of late.

Me actually. I'm a huge fan of the original and a remake might actually be a good thing this time.

I actually thought The Black Hole was dead due to Disney wanting to reduce their film slate (the project was greenlighted shortly before Disney got out of producing projects that couldn't promise extra revenue in merchandise) and the disappointing critical result of Tron: Legacy (though it was a hit financially).

The Black Hole is one of those films that could easilly inspire a remake better than the mediocre original. The 1979 film has some interesting ideas, great minature effects work and a majestic John Barry score, but it's also fairly boring and populated by bland, uninteresting characters. Then again, I never saw it until about two years ago, so I have no childhood nostalgia clouding the issue. Bring it on, I say.

For me, the original was such garbage, with such an idiotic idea driving it, that no good can come of it, especially with the type of garbage that the powers that be seem to churn out these days.

I remember wanting to go to see it on my birthday in 1983 but the cinema held The Gnome-Mobile and Herbie Goes Bananas over one more day (not making this up)* On finally seeing it on TV the words "dodging" and "bullet" came to mind.

*It took movies a lot longer to get around to the Caribbean back then.

This is still one of the best SFX shots ever. Thank gods they didn't try to blue screen that baby. It would have been a matting mess. The space backdrop is the coolest Ive ever seen as well. Almost looks 3D. They kinda insinuated some time ago they wouldn't change the Cygnus design to much. Lets hope they live up to that.

It looks like a giant greenhouse in space, but for what it is, it is quite a piece of production design, yes.

See, I will never understand this hatred of the film. It is flawed, yes. But it also has some incredible moments as well.

Oh well, to each their own dance.

That's funny. I thought the first one wrapped up the story perfectly fine. This is just a cash grab.

With that kinda cash I could buy every soundtrack I ever wanted, and still have money left over! wink

One could say the same about the original Star Wars...
