Ford is a product of the school of laconic acting, and that's never been to everyone's taste in the same way that semi-sweet chocolate isn't to everyone's taste. Some people just have to have the simple super-sweetness of milk chocolate, as their palates will never adjust to anything more subtle, sophisticated and, perhaps, satisfying. Hell, there were, and are, those who can't fathom Gary Cooper, who elevated laconic acting to an art. Therefore implying that those who don't care much for Ford's style are un-subtle and unsophisticated? LOL. Good luck with that.

Lets be honest for a moment. Harrison Ford is a lot like Hans Zimmer. You hire them because, well, you need a "Harrison Ford character" or a "Hans Zimmer score". Its when they're pushed a little past their "safe areas" - The Mosquito Coast, Frantic and Witness for Ford, Thin Red Line and Last Samurai for Zimmer - that they really shine. However, if you keep casting Ford as the marquee star in another action hero role or Zimmer in yet another pounding, mindless affair without a soul... well, they're just gonna fill the seat and probably not bring their A-Game because why bother? Personally, I love Harrison Ford. He's got a very self-depreciating way about him that I find agreeable. I've met a few people that have worked with him and say he's one of the most down-to-earth people you'd ever meet in Hollywood - don't talk to him about movies because he won't care, but if you ask him how to install countertop anchor cleats or anything carpentry, the man comes alive. (Well, that and aviation.) He seems an average joe who plays average joes. Thats all.

he was BORN to play Decker in "Blade Runer". His cop in "Witness" was excellent! His stints as Han Solo and Indiana Jones were wonderful. I can imagine no one else playing those roles. Sometimes, our opinions are simply out-of-step with consensus. Well I agree he is quite good in those 8 films but other then that and maybe 2 more, he has 10 good/great films. I don't think he is terrible but I don't think he is AWESOME and EXCELLENT and if anything I feel his work in the last 15 years has actually lowered his standing with me. Only the recent MORNING GLORY or his cameos in late night talk shows has shown that Mr. Ford is like most of us BORED with his career and that when asked to be funny really shines. That being said like others have noted, the man really could SMOLDER like few others. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=7T0vs9gYydo
