Hey Timmer, I posted the picture on my Facebook page.
Why is that so simple, and I can't figure out how to post it here?

Timmer, I was on the phone with Lois Carruth last night, and I told her about you wanting me to post that picture (I sent it to her in an email).
She said, "Is Timmer still at the board? I love him!"
I thought you'd get a charge out of that.

smile

I certainly do! :humble:

Please return my love to Lois.

NAAAAH, Octoberman.
Timmer wants me to post the photo of me (at age 24) shaking Ray Harryhausen's hand.

I suspect Octoberman would have preferred a hands-on picture of Caroline Monro wink

What can I say? I'm a pig. A pic of shaking RH's hand is exciting, no question.
But so is a pic of Caroline Munro... just in a slightly different way. wink

(Also, sorry for the off-topic veering.)

She was a lovely lady or is, I presume you met her in person?

I was checking out Harryhausen memorials at YouTube, and it lead me to the official Ray And Diana Harryhausen Foundation Facebook page. There's a ton of stuff there I'd never before seen, and there are photos of Caroline Munro that were taken quite recently.
Older...but still quite choice.
(Of course, I'm also older than when I saw her in Sinbad back in 1973, and I like to think of myself as "still quite choice". For the answer to that mystery, you'll have to ask my dearest lady friend.)

I met her at a sci-fi memorabilia show back in the 90's, she's a lovely woman. I took a picture of my friend with her and stupidly didn't get him to reciprocate.

I know, I know! I'm one of the worst offenders on this board! But in this case, I just couldn't help myself.

Anyway, until Timmer & Chris can get their pic up, this will have to do, sort of...

TO OCTOBERMAN- Is that you on the left?

Seriously, to me the most poignant of RAY'S achievement was the ending of BEAST FROM 20,000 FATHOMS, when the creature gives off his last screech and succumbs to his death. A incredible creature of an incredible species dying on top of the destruction of what then was the most famous amusement park in America, at least. I always saw a subtle symbolism there. There is a time for a beginning for all and a time for a end for all. Such is life.

Heh-heh. No, it's not. For one thing, I'm a 52-year old Caucasion male! LOL

When I was trying to find a shot of both RH and the Incomparable Ms. Munro, that was the best one there was.

I don't know who the woman on the left is. I would presume it was amongst RH's family or friends, or possible his caregiver. I don't recall what his wife looks like, but this woman would seem to be too young to be that. Hard to tell, but you never know.

I don't think it has been mentioned that Ray's wife Diana is the great-granddaughter of David Livingstone. I certainly didn't know that until, on a visit to my mammy's hoose back hame near Glasgow last year, I went into the David Livingstone Centre in Blantyre (a place which had fascinated me ever since I was taken to see it at the age of 5), and there was a huge sculpture in the grounds which had been designed and overseen by the Harryhausens. It depicts Livingstone being attacked by a lion, and in the bodily contortions it's clearly reminiscent of Ray's detailed drawings of scenes of mass panic published in his Film Fantasy Scrapbook. That really made my day.

That's Martine Beswick (One Million BC) on the left.

Wow! I would never have guessed!

But in scrolling through some pix of her just now... yeah, I can see it.
