You two just wanna have some easily manipulated but stupidly generous sugar daddy to buy all your soundtrack CDs!!!!

"...Bill, eat up your blueberry muffin, now tomorrow we're taking you to screen archives where you can buy all the scores we want!"

I dug this up looking for old threads on Jurassic Park. Deckard (who I guess was around for six years) really slammed the score for this film. And members get angry at those who criticize Giacchino's scores in the series.

This has been bugging me for a LOOOOONG time.
Example of Williams scores
Jaws= scary monster= scary Theme
ET=cust alien = cute theme
Jurrasisc Park=scary dinos'=
theme I can't even remember being in the least bit scary or foreboding. and the overall score is not in the least memorable. :-( BOO. boring rubbish.

Ahhh...the "good old days" of this forum, when "everything" and "everyone" was "perfect."

130) William McCrum in "Film Score Fans Tend to Be Musically Conservative":

"When I first read carburettor Joe's post re sex and music, I thought it satire or provocateur.

Then I looked at the detail in his jazz list and thought, 'No, the bugger means it'.

If he finds Miklos Rozsa, with his Magyar-earth ferocity, rhythmic electricity, Hungarian fifths, and deep sensuous cellos, snaking melodic lines, ecstatic climaxes, deep empathy, demonic passion ..... well if he finds that 'asexual' and gets a kick from just saxophones .... well, let's just say it's not Miklos R who's the sexually challenged one in this ....."

Tall Guy's post in the Miss World thread about being fine seeing the contestants without swimsuits was pretty funny, and i think as someone wrote, won that thread (not that it was a competition). smile

Edit: This was it:

Almost 90 posts when the answer is obvious - me, I’d be very happy to watch this kind of thing with the participants not wearing swimsuits.

No, I didn't scold Tall Guy. I let him know that his comment made me laugh. His comment was pretty funny without being sexist, but then he has a wife and two daughters.

I don't give a darn about your winky icon. Your comment, now removed, asking about Toprak's bust size was stupid and really ticked me off. When it was announced that Ludwig Goransson would compose the score for CREED, I had no idea who he was. I would NEVER think about asking how many inches his......You get the picture. It would be inappropriate, degrading and unrelated to his compositional skills. I'm going to ignore you for a while.

I have probably had more PERSONAL interactions with female musicians - including film score professionals- than anyone on this board..

I am sorry you are unable to recognise my satirical posts. They aren't exactly a rare occurence.
Peace and love.

Just one more thing...
It was only because of my efforts that the SF Chronicle published a full- length obituary when Shirley Walker died. That's right; her home town paper ignored her passing. Until I championed her accomplished life!

The "defense" rests!

I love Bill's 'I've had a friggin'nough' jump in on Thor's old COWBOYS thread, cos a guy named Phil Colson doesn't agree/argues his debate with Thor (then McCrum) about the films' morality and language.

As opposed to you lecturing us, Thor?
Sneering at every element of old films through twisted politically-correct glasses is tiresome and boring and the pastime of poisonous social workers. The films were of their time. Get over it. They may not be perfect but enjoy them for what they were. Or don't watch them.
----------------
For the record, I love the film THE COWBOYS and generally agree with Phil Colson in that thread, as opposed to the 'knickers in a twist' histrionics of Thor & McCrum.
