Hah hah - that was brilliant! And 60 million suspects - they might have to extend it to 10 episodes this time!

Out of here like Wolves and Blackburn, who are sinking like stones in the Championship? Or Leeds, who are wallowing in 13th place? You boys are going to have to deal with certain realities and Manchester United winning titles is one of those cold, hard realities. LOL!!!

Jim - to paraphrase one of my colleagues last week (not a Leeds fan, by the way) - "I should like Manchester United. They play good football, generally have a good core of English players, and by and large don't get involved in bad events off the field. But I fckn hate them."

I think that sums it up for just about all English football fans who aren't actually Man U supporters. I'm afraid that's why you're unlikely to get any in depth analysis of their 20th title success. Better dead (or 13th in the Championship) than Red.

I think the main problem is HIM, TG.

I mean, fair enough, they won the title fair and square.....but I cannot stand the man...and his aura pervades the whole club !

I'm not surprised at last nights match. I didn't expect it to be 4-0, but I already said I expected Bayern to reach the final. Simply too powerful and clinical for Barca.

Bayern are the best team in Europe, they have the biggest and best squad. Plenty of options, and will only be even better next year with the addition of Gotze from Dortmund. The timing of that announcement was strange to say the least.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/22261981

Barcelona have problems in their team. No cover at central defence, too many players past their prime, too reliant on Messi. They need to add 3 or 4 quality players in the summer, like Bayern do every year.

Oh dear. Has he forgotten Rooney playing about with escorts and erm, naughty grannies, Giggs enjoying himself with models and erm, his sister in law, Ferdinand purposely 'forgetting' to attend a drugs test and getting a very long ban and Keane and Evra being generally terrible examples of human beings?

Remind him, TG...

All excellent points. Not to mention Ferdinand agreeing to front anti-crime campaigns whilst glorifying gangsta rap. And the Neville brothers (yes, both Quasi and Modo) and their dodgy dad (so bad they named him twice) - http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-21944683

I shall make it my business to re-educate my colleague.

I post to myself for the best part of the year - turn my back for 30 seconds and all sorts of ex-posters pop back up!!!

Jim, as for United, the title was a total anti-climax this year. United are not necessarily playing that well - it's just that ALL their 4 to 5 rivals are playing total and utter shite. Either they are in "transition" or had a blip and never recovered. Tott looked potential but did their usual blow up; Man City seemed to be having an after the lord mayors show season where they cant be arsed to raise their game having won it last year - too many of their mercenaries are always going lack a little bit of fight-back because theyre talented without their heart being in it - 250k gets you them playing for you but resolve is extra!!; Chelsea players have spent most of the season not really wanting to play for their interim manager and they clearly have dressing room power struggles (Terry, Lampard, Cole run the place and dont take kindly to not being able to appoint the manager themselves!!). Arsenal are so bad its not even worth mentioning but their spawniness means they beat lesser teams but always, always fall short against anyone in the top 5.
So did United win it? Or merely plod along with virtually no challenge since before xmas?
They added Van Persie's goals and that alone seems to have done enough to see them streets ahead.

As for how people feel about United, it is normally the draw-dropping and obnoxious arrogance of nearly all their fans that you meet which tends to cloud most people's view. Like a lot of Tott fans too, they wont concede anything fair in a football chat and just talk shite and constantly cant stop themselves having digs at your team and/or being about as jaundiced and ludicrously partizan as their manager when it comes to incidents if they were unlucky/ whether the ref didnt add on enough time/ if it was a foul/a sending off/offside etc etc etc.

Suarez' actions have been the most "bite" Liverpool have had all season. Too bad Steven Gerrard has had to suffer with that cast of clowns for so long.

As for players of low character, John Terry and Frank Lampard are scum on legs as far as I'm concerned. It doesn't make me feel any less about Chelsea, though. lol I'm sure one could go through the rosters of every team and find delightful people on every team, but since they tend to be crap, they don't get the attention that Utd. does.

Borussia Dortmund-Real Madrid 1-1 at halftime. I'm sure Real wins this on aggregate goals in order to prevent an all-German UEFA final.

Lewandowski with a hat trick. It's 3-1 Dortmund. So far the officials are letting the game be played. Let the rich boys hit the ground for a change!

EDIT: 4-1! Lewandowski scores on a penalty!

No Bail Out for SPAIN from Germany this time!!
Looking like an all German final!
Is this the beginning of the end of Spanish dominance?

Real and Barca cannot be as bad as they were in the first leg - so dont expect either team to lose their second legs. Probably. Its just a question of how many they can claw back?

It does look promising for the Germans but it could make for exciting second legs if both spanish teams start well and score early. One of the German teams might well get shaken up a bit.

Its a bit like letting the bloke in the fastest formula 1 car start at the back of the grid!

Isn't it all about the aggregate now? It's Dortmund 4-Real 2 and Bayern 4 Barca 0. Can Barca pull out another decisive victory against THAT team? I like Real's chances a lot better because only one player had their number whereas Bayern were swarming all over Barca like the bumblebee shirts that Dortmund were wearing.

I doubt there will be an all-German final because it's impossible to have two German teams lying on their backs, legs bent, and arms over their crying faces at the end of the same match. It's a sight I'm already used to seeing (2010 WC, 2012 EUROS, 2012 UEFA).

I think there was a little bit of ref help too, Jim, certainly in the bayern v barca game. Two of the goals of Bayern were seriously dodgy- especially the defender being taken out in the penalty area !! (I suddenly thought I was watching Stoke play american football!).

Be interesting anyway, how much of the deficit the spanish sides can reclaim.

I dont mind Barca going out - that ticki tacki has got very dull and slow and monotonous. You do scream for a forward pass when they are hypnotising some unfortunate defence and making their heads spin in triangles.

>>>>>>>>Two of the goals of Bayern were seriously dodgy- especially the defender being taken out in the penalty area !!>>>>>>>>>

While that is true, Barca were quite lucky not to concede two penalties from two blatant hand balls in their area, so maybe things do balance out.
What I would like to know is what the hell those new UEFA dummies in blue are doing by the posts!!
They watch the game but NEVER seem to call anything!!!

You beat me to it, Vermithrax. smile

If Germany's national side is comprised of Bayern-Borussia players like Spain's was of Barca-Real, then the World Cup should be theirs.
