That drive by Chavez that Jackson had to make a great catch of is enough to convince me that A-Rod should be benched the rest of the series.

I give the Tigers credit. In every opportunity they've had, they've executed flawlessly and delivered the bat on the ball where it needed to go.

I give the Tigers pitching credit. Who expected Fister to completely shut down those Yankee bats tonight?

And their bullpen is holding the Yankees to a goose egg so far as well.

Tiger fans must be holding their breaths now that Valverde is on to close in the 9th.

And just like that, Valverde summons his inner Armando Benitez and gives up a two run homer to Ichiro in the 9th and the Yankees cut the lead in half with one swing. So much for the shutout.

It's now 4-2 Detroit.

Valverde is digging himself a deep hole once again.

Game tied!

Ibanez ties it with a home run!

This has all the makings of too little, too late for me at this point.

Here's the problem for the Yankees though. Girardi used so many pitchers the last couple innings and has already burned his big long man, that it's going to put them into a very precarious situation the longer this goes on.

As Jack Buck said, "I don't believe what I just saw."

I do. I had a bad feeling as soon as Valverde took the mound and I'm not even a Tigers fan.

With an afternoon game tomorrow with starters on short rest and bullpens being used up tonight, I'll be shocked if it's a low scoring affair.

If the Yankees go on to win it all this year Raul Ibanez will be cheered on oldtimers day at Yankee Stadium for decades to come.

Ibanez has been an incredible pick up for them.

Octavio Dotel. The guy Valentine should have brought in instead of Rogers back in 1999!

Girardi is REALLY overdoing it by pinchrunning for Granderson. These are the kinds of things he does that really make no sense.

Two chances to win this.

They come up empty on both. Once again, they can't get a base hit whenever they need it.

Advantage Yankees right now.

They are built for this ballpark and the longer it goes on in extra innings all it takes is one jack shot on a mistake pitch as the Tigers bullpen continues to thin out and this game will be over.

Right now, if Gary and I were both hooked up to machines registering tension, I think we'd blow them out sky-high.

But they hit home runs. And that's why they're here right now in this series while the other teams are putting on their golf shorts and polishing their putters.

The Yankees have the big boys up in the 11th.
