Real and Barca cannot be as bad as they were in the first leg - so dont expect either team to lose their second legs. Probably. Its just a question of how many they can claw back?

It does look promising for the Germans but it could make for exciting second legs if both spanish teams start well and score early. One of the German teams might well get shaken up a bit.

Its a bit like letting the bloke in the fastest formula 1 car start at the back of the grid!

Of the two Bill, I would maybe give Madrid a slight chance. Barca have none. Bayern's defence is too good to concede the goals Barca need, and I would expect Bayern to score at Camp Nou with the attacking players they have. Especially against that dodgy Barca defence.

BVB were impressive last night though. They have young players who play for the team and keep pressing the whole game. Made Madrid look slow and ponderous by comparision.

And I thought their supporters were first class, great atmosphere.

Where are all the German and Spanish football fans!!??
I don't get it!!
There are plenty of Spanish and German soundtrack fans...why don't you contribute to this thread about your teams, especially as they are doing much better than these Cockneys, Scousers and Yorkshiremen's teams!!! wink

Very true, VP.

The only others from Europe (apart from us Brits) who have mentioned football here are Thor (even though he supports Spurs!) and Stefan (who is a Feyenoord supporter, I believe).

Am I the only American in this thread? There were a few other posters in the old World Cup topics but I appear to be the only American posting on this one.

I'm also this thread's originator...and proudly so, I might add. smile

Okay Jim, while credit is up for grabs, it was me who got you to change the thread title (from that Terry Henry fella that nobody likes) so it would be more popular and visited. Seems to have worked wink but indeed, where are all the other footie fans from the great out there?
I didn't think it would be a playground for just Hammer Bill, Sir TG of Leeds Utd, me and Thomas keeping up the Red End (oohh err) and your American impartial self Lord Jim wink

Yes thanks for smoothing all those ruffled feathers, Kev. Thanks to you too, Tall Guy. smile

I'm not totally impartial; I just didn't want this thread to be all about the npower Championship table. wink Speaking of which, isn't Oblicno a Bolton supporter? They are once again in a position to re-enter the Premier League.

Ob is a Bolton fan, but I heard he got fed-up with some of the BS around here (not in this thread, I hasten to add) and was last seen traversing around Canada with Owen Coyle wink

This statement is substantively true, with an embellishment here or there. I keep watching "You Gotta Eat Here" in the hope that Oblicno will be seen in the background demolishing a mooseburger larger than his head.

My pleasure - hope we're good, Jim.

A severely disappointing season for a Leeds fan, where hopes of automatic promotion rapidly evaporated into an assumption of play-off disappointment, which morphed into the sweats about relegation for a week or two. Almost as bad that nobody could give Man U a good run for their (considerable) money. The only aspiration I have now for the end of the season is that Arsenal will miss the Champions League place and that Suarez will take his rat-like gnashers to Spain so that I can go back to wanting Liverpool to win the odd game.

Watcging the Man City-West Ham match. Energetic second half. In fact, it's almost as energetic as Sam Allardyce's profane explosions! He's a spitting image of the late, great Geoffrey Hughes, isn't he? I like the pluck of those Hammers, Bill!

But pluck doesn't win games, goals do as City defeat West Ham 2-1.

Sounds like it's mayhem at dirty, dirty Leeds TG! Diouf as usual. Nasty piece of work.

Sorry Jim, was otherwise busy today. Game was live on espn channel here which is harder to find on TV in bars locally than Sky stuff - and given that City will limp home to second and west ham are safe, I couldnt be arsed to make the effort!

Dirty game it seems. I'm told aguero did a bad challenge?

Plucky leeds get back to 1-1 then lose to a late brighton winner. Sendings off all over the place!! Yeah Thomas, lets give TG stick about diouf - dirty horrible gobbing goblin.

No, O'Brien made a reckless challenge on Zabaleta who got up and shoved him, not that O'Brien moved an inch from the "force" of the shove! lol It would have been a different story if it had been Lescott or Kompany. Both players received a yellow card for their transgression. The Toure goal was a beaut, if I do say so myself.

Did he spit at someone when he scored the penalty? Haven't seen any reports yet. If he did then I hope we get rid of him - even if he is our most talented player.

Haven't seen it yet myself TG, but I believe he made an obscene gesture at the Brighton fans.

On a more positive note, 6-0! Impressed with the reds today, Coutinho and Sturridge were class. Newcastle a shambles. Wouldn't bother me if they go down, can't stand Alice Pardew. All without our main man as wellsmile

Is THAT all? Silly thing to do but not a hanging offence.

So you'll be getting rid of ratboy after all, now, Thomas? You don't seem to need him after that performance.

I once saw Liverpool play at St James's Park, in the early 70s. It was Malcolm MacDonald's debut for the toon, and he scored a hat-trick in a 3-2 win.
