So to repeat a question I asked some time ago in this thread: Should I fill the wait until Sherlock's third series arrives with the Kenneth Branagh version of Wallander?
I know the BBC version of Wallander isn't to everyone's taste, but I have enjoyed the series since day one.
I'm waiting for series four, which I believe will be the final series, consisting of three episodes.
I read an interview the other day with Benedict Cumberbatch. Don't have the link handy, but he said he's trying to do what he can to get Season 3 to air the same day in both England and America. He knows the details of how Sherlock survived his fall are going to be everywhere online as soon as the episode airs, spoiling it for American viewers who normally have to wait months until the episodes air here. Frankly, I don't see why the show can't air in both countries on the same day.
If BBC America was showing Sherlock, I would agree. As it's shown on PBS, it will probably be shown sometime after it's screened in the UK, but as for the same day, I can't see that happening.

That's what I don't understand, though. Why couldn't they air it the same day? I don't know much of anything about how television broadcasts work, but can't BBC One just say they want it aired on the same day?
As best I can tell (not that it's a reliable judgment), the production of these episodes seems to more or less be about the same time of year as when the last episodes were shot. So it's possible it could be another January premiere if they are sticking with a similar schedule. Not that that means anything for us American viewers, who will probably have to wait an additional four months or so from whenever they air in the UK. LOL!
heard today a pal was asked to film a scene for the third series, so its still filming. He was told they aim roughly for a 3 month turnaround from finishing filming to screening. so still sounds more like new years day 2014 and the following two sunday evenings to me!!

Since it's Saturday, tonight will be my traditional Sherlock BBC night whereas I watch whatever episode is up next while eating Thai red curry and Wonton soup. I do lead an exciting life.
I don't know which is worse: the lawsuit or the fact that the Daily Mail is reporting it. Oh wait. It's both. At least someone's talking about the show, though the Mail and the FSM board are equal in their time spent NOT talking about the show's music.
In the Dr Who "Image of the Fendahl" commentary track from a few years ago, Wanda Ventham discusses her son's burgeoning acting career. I just learned her son is Benedict Cumberbatch. D'oh!
