Notice how Max COMPLETELY IGNORES the Fivehouse "nasty" while he and his fellow loyalists (and Lonesdale) try to buy up all those b***leg copies...

I'm actually trying to dig out my copy that's stored in hundreds of cardboard boxes with the "U-Haul" logo on them.

NICHOLAS ROWE on the commercial success of SON OF ALAN FIVEHOUSE.

"...I'm often asked why I didn't return for the next film, despite the success of SON OF ALAN FIVEHOUSE. I wish I had an answer. To this very day, I do not know why there was no follow-up movie to SON OF ALAN FIVEHOUSE, with Nigel Fivehouse taking over. Lonsdale made it clear that he was quite tired of it all after the last picture. But then he came back for the final film, which did horrifically poor business. I do not know. I just do not know why...."

ALAN FIVEHOUSE AND THE CASTLE OF FRANKENSTEIN ... as Loftybeck laughed while enjoying a pastrami sandwich with Russian dressing.

LOL!

I was curious as to why Castle of Frankenstein magazine was so interested--product placement galore!

ANTHONY CUCCITONI, fan and toy collector, regarding the collectibles of ALAN FIVEHOUSE.

"...I remember that the hot collectible - I was 12 at the time the first FIVEHOUSE film came out - was the ALAN FIVEHOUSE lunchbox. It not only fit three tunafish sandwiches perfectly, but also came with a limited edition finger print kit. it was fun..."

SUKDEEP PATEL on the limited edition ALAN FIVEHOUSE pipe.

"...It was a joy to smoke. I smoked the pipe alot..."

PETER GRENIER on the ALAN FIVEHOUSE Colorforms set.

"...This was fu**** up. A colorforms set? It was neat to dress up Alan's assistant in a broqueted dickie with acqua knickers and suspenders..."

CHARLOTTE LOOMER on the ALAN FIVEHOUSE kitchen set.

"...I had three Alan Fivehouse cheese graters, an apple corer, and a measuring spoon set. It lasted almost 22 years before the dishwasher melted it.."

HYMAN DICKLER on the model kits of ALAN FIVEHOUSE

"...AMT in the US licensed the FIVEHOUSE Mercedes 1978 SEL 500SE, while German Revell had the STANTON MOORE motorbike. Really cool stuff..."

Geordie Gilberdyke never looked better.

I never was able to figure out if Gilberdyke was male or female.

Max, if you'd been a squaddie on RSM Gilberdyke's parade ground in the late 1950s, I think you'd have figured it out.

Somehow, I missed out on all that fanfare. I'm an unfortunate child of the 70's.

the collectibles of ALAN FIVEHOUSE.

This was also the title of a PBS behind the scenes special in the mid-80's. I remember Peter Ustinov doing the narration and learning about the failed Mego line of Fivehouse action figures. Not a single kid wanted one then and Mego never recovered from the debacle. It was one of the major reasons they closed up shop.

Filmation did indeed try an animated version: Alan Fivehouse in the 25th Century was a two part episode of the Bravestarr cartoon, but there was no response from the audience. Bravestarr proved to be Filmation's final effort.

After these two massive failures and company closings, the Fivehouse Kiss of Death was invented. Indeed, to this day, The Fivehouse Curse haunts actors from the revivals.

It's funny. I will look for that Howard Stern interview with Frederick Loftybeck, or "Freddy" as he wanted to be referred to during his hip rennaisance in the mid-90's. You talk about what a complete whore "Freddy" became by bilking all that he could from the beloved ALAN FIVEHOUSE.

Freddy may have been "hip" to his fans; however, those horrible haband polyester brown pants he wore were anything but "hip". He once stated that he had a closet full of them, so that he would not have to worry about what to put on in the morning.

ANy truth to the rumor of an upcoming "Alana Fivehouse" TV movie, ala The Girl from U.N.C.L.E.?

I can tell you that there is a pair of really good fan films out there, based on the Fivehouse cult series. One is "Alien 5house." It's about 15 minutes long and pits our hero against a trio of Aliens from the Fox franchise. Very professional looking.

There's also a really cool and quite thrilling Batman / Fivehouse team-up called "A Joker Beats Fivehouse of a Kind", which has Fivehouse and the Bat tackling the Joker. Some really great stuff in there.

I was the kid that wanted that stuff. This reminds me of the time a friend and I went to a convenience store (around 1980) called "Bottom Dollar" and I saw the TOPPS Fivehouse trading cards (complete with powdery, cardboard bubblegum) and as my self esteem wasn't what it is now, my friend laughed when I got all excited over those wax Fivehouse packs. He intimidated me out of buying the cards with (and I'll never forget this): "Alan Fivehouse? That's more boringer[sic] than Star Trek: The Motion Picture!"

This thread has validated my childhood taste in greatness.

You are correct in ALANA FIVEHOUSE. In fact, they've tapped (no pun intended) this actress for the role. All I can say is, I will watch this show.

As promised! The Theodore Bikel version of Alan Fivehouse, from the unauthorized McClory-like film of Alan Fivehouse: Scotland Yard's Finest. The first pic is from a Dinah Shore show, the second is from the film itself.

The first picture of Bikel looks like it was shot around the time of FIVEHOUSE: SYF. The second picture, however, looks like the excerpt from the test footage they shot of him.

Funny.

I just wanted to let you know that it did indeed exist. Kind of like Edward G. Robinson's ape makeup footage from POTA.
