No no, dan, what I'm saying is I absolutely love the Spice Girls, they're really good, and I can dance and sing to the songs, and then my dad says "Hey, listen to this" and he like puts on something like SOUTH PACIFIC or some film music that sounds like STAR WARS, and I'm like - "Yeah, right - BORING", you know, sort of like orchestras and stuff written a million years ago? Then he'll say I should learn more about like that old classical stuff and he goes on about Beethovis or some old guy (my dad says he was deaf, and it sure sounds like it with the amount of boring noisy classics my dad says he wrote), and I'm like kinda y'know - "OK, give me a break!?, I mean, I've heard the stuff when my dad has the radio on and it's just like, God, sooooooooo ancient? So I say to my dad that the Spice Girls are the best ever and he says I should like grow up, and I'm kinda like "What"? So in a way coz they are just opinions, I guess that my dad's right in his own head, but he's nuts so that doesn't count, y'know?

TO GRAHAM-YEAH MAN a real bummer, ain't it, I mean hanging out with TOM SAVINININ on the set of one of my films and he would say I just don't get this world, the young ones think I am a god[oops sorry folks] GOD- SORRY FOLKS AGAIN, God, there we go and the older ones think I am Satan because of all the gore effects, you know man, it's just not cool, then on the other movie, you know DAVID HESS, the rights for the remake, I mean I thought LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT WAS THE GREATEST FILM EVER MADE, BUT WHEN I SHOWED IT TO MY BEST FRIEND, LINDA BLAIR'S BOYFRIEND, HE FELL ASLEEP, BUT THEN WHAT DO I KNOW, BUT THEN WHAT DOES HE KNOW, I MEAN WHAT DOES ANYONE REALLY KNOW, I MEAN IT'A BUMMER MAN A REAL BUMMER. So you see Graham that's life, we love hammer films, some wanted to burn the prints years ago, what gives here.MY DAD YEARS AGO SAID DON MCLEAN has a terrible voice but he was great in our generation,he also thought ARETHA FRANKLIN sound like a off key cow.Back to the industry, me and my friends all turn down jobs working for Troma, wouldn't you? One of my line producers quit FANGORIA WOULDN'T YOU, WELL ANYWAY I GET YOUR POINT, YOU GET MINE TOO , RIGHT,

I just saw Ford in an episode of Gunsmoke. My jaw dropped. I didn't know his acting career went back that far. I couldn't tell if he had his famous scar back then. There weren't a lot of close ups and it was a standard definition broadcast. He looked scar-less to me.

Yeah, I just saw that one, too. Ford had two Gunsmoke appearances ("Whelan's Men" and "The Sodbusters.") during it's final season. And if I have my timeline right, he played Bob Falfa in American Graffiti right after these episodes.

An unfortunate thread title to bump for an appraisal of Ford -- as I said earlier, I think he's an excellent actor, severely underrated.

Maybe an unfortunate thread title Thor, but I had a huge sense of nostalgia re-reading dan the man's posts. Is there ANYBODY around today who is as off the wall as our dan?

He was also in "Ironside", "Love American Style", "The Virginian" and "The F.B.I." early in his career.

I guess I've never looked at his filmography on IMDB. I always thought Lucas "found him". I remember some story where he was a carpenter (maybe even doing something at Lucas's home) then gave him his first shot in American Graffiti.

The name dropping in Apocalypse Now was crazy, which I suppose, went with the territory.

Ford played Colonel G. Lucas. Brando played Kurtz. The helos played The Ride Of The Valkyries.

Ford claims to have had the car accident which scarred his chin around 1965. He was driving to a job he had at Bullocks department store. It predates his first screen credits. Perhaps such scars are less noticeable on younger faces.

The only weird acting moment I remember of his is in, I think, Temple if Doom though I may be mistaken. He throws his head back in laughter, but no sound comes out so it's just this big weird yawn. Anyone else remember that?

He was good in "The Conversation." I am not sure if I have seen another film with him.
