It was a B match then? (see code above!! )

As for the hammers thomas, a bloke discarded by Fulham is going to save our season??.
Pardon if i dont jump up and down with enthusiasm.

Re England v Ukraine tonight. Two average teams battling it out to make up the numbers in Brazil.
Pointless.

I never quite understand the obsession English have with "getting there " when its plain you aint gona do anything other than struggle if you do.

We have it in domestic cups with champs lge and europa league. All the discussion is about such and suchscraping into the europa league - whats the point when obvious humiliation awaits.
We used to joke when millwall got in europe - a tv company was saying follow millwalls tour of europe - and someone added - one night only!!!

That Ukraine-England qualifier didn't seem like the game I thought it would be--two teams trying not to lose despite the scoreless draw result--as much as it looked like both sides not converting on what looked to be ample chances to score.

Can anyone explain how Kyle Walker is playing International football? Nowhere near good enough at that level. If he is ever in the right position it's by accident, and his technical ability leaves something to be desired. Pace isn't always the trick.

Oh, and Crapattoni has resigned. I expect Martin O'Neill to be his replacement...

I'm still waiting for Jack Wilshire to become worthy of the hype heaped on him. I know he's only 21, but enough with the media attention about the "excitement" he generates.

I guess I should "keep the American end up" by noting that by virtue of Team USA's 2-0 defeat of Mexico, that the US of A have now qualified for the 2014 World Cup.

More bad news, Bill. Andy Carroll's hurt...again.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/24027052

However, there's good news with what your team is doing in terms of attracting young supporters to the West Ham camp:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/24045505

"West Ham United will offer a "kids for a quid" deal at as many as six home games this season as they continue efforts to attract a new generation of fans."

England world ranking is 17th. A 12-year low for the Three Lions:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/24069574

What a difference a year and a couple of months make. England were ranked third around the time of EURO 2012, which was waaaaaay too generous.

Here is the present top ten, according to FIFA:

1 Spain 1514 (1)
2 Argentina 1263 (4)
3 Germany 1261 (2)
4 Italy 1199 (6)
5 Colombia 1180 (3)

6 Belgium 1159 (10)
7 Uruguay 1126 (12)
8 Brazil 1067 (9)
9 Netherlands 1058 (5)
10 Croatia 1051 (8)

17th is appalling but about right.

Hammers have been doing the kids for quid promo for shit matches they cant fill for many years.

they are committed to moving stadium in thenext 3 years and a lot of fans are saying they will stop going if the club move. so the more cynical fans would see this as an extra effort to attract new fans that might not be bothered about a new stadium coz the old ones are fed up and threatening boycott.

Remember Oblicno? My team plays his tomorrow. As fond of him as I am, we really need the points.

I hate football.

When youre team is playing crap and every other team looks stronger than you and you cant see any light at the end of the tunnel, you go off watching other football too.

Southampton today. Always been a pointless and irritating team. And they always do us.
And its always in the last ten mins.
Wont be any different today. Lambert will score, probably unmarked, with a header.
And they will all look at each other like theyve never seen him score with his head.

0 - 1. 1-2 or 0-2. Either option equally annoying.

PS Gareth Bale WAS for sale and he scored a slide-in on his debut.

It's good to see your early season optimism hasn't faded already, Billwink

I fancy The Hammers to get something today though. Southampton aren't on the best of runs, and if it continues the pressure may be on their manager. Pinocchio, I think he's called.

I watched the Villareal-Madrid match last night. Good for Bale that he scored, however he done absolutely nothing else in the 60 minutes he played. In fact, he hardly touched the ball!

He's around (well, Canada), and may even see this thread once in a blue moon, but no plans as I understand it to cross paths with the wider FSM community any time soon. Sometimes asks me to send his regards to those who post on this thread, but I usually forget.

Cristiano Ronaldo has signed a new contract with Real Madrid. 17 million Euros a year until June 2018.

Great for "Mr. Football", but I don't think his "legacy" will be what it should be until he wins the Champions League with Real.

Survived it then, Bill. Sam moaning about that challenge, and with some justification, Some great saves from Jaska... Jeskerl... the goalie.
